A little welding and bending cost a lot less than preping a whole new chassis. Even if they are sponsored by Mazworx. I really didn't believe you when you told me this afternoon! hahaha

yeah, it can also help others learn from your mistakes
by watching and figuring out what went wrong it could prevent a similar occurance in the future if others are in such a predicament.
and it wasnt even on formula.D they showed everyone else's crash....86 roll....s14 rail-slide..even enjuku's usual hanging off bumper..but no crash
looks like great work btw

Matt Vassallo
10-09-2005, 04:01 PM
honestly the car crashed because i lost front grip and had no front bumper and couldnt react in time. end of story.

Seriously guys, I saw the video and there's nothing to it. Mattback lays it down on lap one, clipping a pylon and slinging the bumper off. Then, lap 2 from a standing start, you see him accel through 45mph, where the video cuts away to nice shots of the ground for the rest of second and 3rd gear. Then the video cuts back to the car parked against the wall for about 2 seconds in shaky-cam style. That's it. Where it happens is really far from the camera, so what little is on tape is about 1/2" high on your TV.
I think hachibill was the camera man. He should stick to driving! hahaha

fordified is an idiot, if you (or others) dont learn from your mistakes then you crash for nothing. it's ok if you were trying to be funny
anyway, whats the gold stuffs on the firewall, paint or some kind of heat prevention shrink wrap?
Just Dave

My point is nobody would learn. They would all come up with the "matt = fail" bullshit and talk trash about how he screwed up when they are living room and internet drifters. I know Matt can drive the shit out of a car. I don't know exactly what happened here, and I bet Matt doesn't either, but trying to discuss it with a group of people who are not in any position to offer SOLID input won't accomplish anything.

I actually wasn't referring to your remark. Its just the "in" phrase right now among drifters so I knew it would come up.

here is the only thing i can come up with why i crashed
1) could the lack of a front bumper have allowed air to get under the car and create lift, explaining why i understeered so badly on the run where i crashed ?
2) were my front tires too scuffed and damaged from the 150 degree track surface ? and should they have been replaced?
3) did i just suck really bad? lol. i doubt that one because i was doing fricking awesome all weekend, and as soon as the bumper gets damaged, i screw up. i dunno. it's done now, i'll be driving staurday.
PS these origin fenders are the best fitting fenders we've used yet for S13.5 conversions..

just because you were doing awesome the day before, doesn't mean you won't make mistakes or driver errors.

What happened to the bumper? Unless you were going into the turn or doing 90+ when you started to lose control I don't see the "lack of a front bumper have allowed air to get under the car and create lift, explaining why i understeered so badly on the run where i crashed ?" happening.
Sucks to see, glad to see its fixed.

Mattback lays it down on lap one, clipping a pylon and slinging the bumper off.

I WAS doing about 85-90 miles per hour going into the bank!! hahaha. the car understeered the instant i turned in, i was fighting it all the way around the bank, but it was sliding too high up, that's all.
Matt Vassallo at work!!
