has anyone thought about or have taken the 90 degree bend out of thier intake manifold? you know the part right after where the throttle body bolts up.

oh, wanted to thank you btw man, I relocated my battery to the trunk with an amp kit...worked great from what I can see, glad that manifold is working for you...was a huge PITA for some reason, speaking of which...do a 5 speed swap...I will personally kick your atx tranny...he he, my SRT swap is almost running...just misc EDIS4 and MS stuff holding me back now...think I'm going to have to rewire my engine bay...again, going to make a harness from scratch this time and eliminate the stock computer completely, now as far as cutting the 90 out...I highly reccomend it for many different reasons...but be prepared to lose your ISC unless you do more modifying than I had the heart to to keep the worthless thing

ok cool, do they just take the flange off cut out the elbow and weld the flange onto it straight? and are there beifits to doing this? also where did you relocate the metal piece in the elbow that is for those two vacum lines? oh yeah one more thing can a 60mm throttle body still work in this set up(i mean will there be enough room at the intake entrance to be ported to 60mm)?

glad that worked, i havent had any problems with it yet, a amp kit works perfect and if you got one like mine from wall mart it is cheap. the manifold is good havent had any problems except the shifting thing which has goten better over time but i thing i still need to adjust the bracket. i did need to raise the idle a bit because of the a/c at a stop wouldnt work but everyting is fine now. i want a 5 speed so bad but dont have time/money lately. i cant wait to see your car on the road that thing is going to be badd ass.

it gets rid of a couple 90 bends that the air needs to travel through before it ets into the intake runners. it also will make piping easier for intake/ turbo pipes. the fitting for the 2 vac lines was drilled and tapped on the manifold after the t/b. mine also has 2 extra vac. fittings for later on thats what the looped line is that goes around the fuel rail valve. onlt thing that we found out is that if you want to do this make sure your car has the long throttle cable, my cable was like 2-3 ft long and wouldnt reach the t/b, luckly josiah's car had one that was a mile long and we got to switch cables.

better air flow maby? i know there is a reason because alot of people do it and even the srt intake mani is a similar design(no 90 bends). no drawbacks at all except like josiah said on mine we got rid of the sensor for itle but its not a big deal. with it we also had to block off the egr so the check engine light came on, still not a big deal if something is wrong im sure ill hear a differance and still can check the codes and just ignore the egr failure code. it probally gains a couple h/p but not much. the bigger ones i would imagine can handle more mass air flow especally if highly boosted.
for ex. this is an srt mani

ok yeah im pnp the manifold if i can get someone to weld it for cheap enough i will do it, it should get me a couple, also with the egr im buying an afx comp. i believe it bypasses that sensor so no check light. thanks for the info

cost me about $40 to have it welded...but thats because I dont know anyone who can weld aluminum...otherwise it would be cheaper not having to pay a shop's prices, I did the cutting and tapping myself though

from the opening where the tbody bolts up how far back did you go when you cut?
and i have to pay shop prices so 40 good enough.

i heard for a 1st gen its a pain in the A** to get it to work. to me there too much money when you can just modify a stock one.

did you hear what part was a pain because it looks like a very doable job, also i dont see much cost to it other than the weld, ifailed to mention above im doing the pnp. so no cost there eccept sanding wheels

im not sure i was never into the indy manifold, neons.org has alot of info on it though

the deal with the indy was bad quality control...all the runners have to be port matched...thats how far off the quality control on some/most of them were, otherwise I'd say its a pretty good manifold...as for how far back I cut it...I cut it just after the 90 myself, cut it with as much room as possible for them to get behind it and weld the flange(which you will have to cutt off as well) back on

yes ive looked on how to cut it and where i just wanted a comparison, your idea sounded just like mine.
