Yeah I just got home, and I just blew 2nd and 3rd. If I was racing I would take it like nothing, fuck. But I was turning to my street doing 30mph maybe in 2nd, then shifted to 3rd at around 45mph and it poped out. I was like okay that's weird. Put it back in, it just revs. FUCK!!! Got home in 4th gear. Then after parking I tried to put it in 2nd, it won't even go in.

I guess the transmission did'nt like the 300whp and 300 lb/tq. Damn.....

So I need something done.

JDM STi gearset + install = $2000

STi US trans = $4000

Or take everything out and trade the bitch in. FUCK.....

At least I still have the civic.....

Sorry about the rant. It suck balls to me.

I know need to find some type of replacement. Any other tranny that bolts on the WRX, any older car that might work, or the internals? Just so I can trade it or something.

I have an older 1991 Subaru XT6 that was AWD and 5 spd, I doubt it would work, but I'm just desperate. Oh yeah I do most of my own work also, but it makes no sense taking one trans out to see if it works. Maybe a 2.5 rs or a legacy?

Time to search the forums......:(

Do any of you know if a STi VER 5 tranny will bolt on the 2002 WRX. I believe it is from 96-97. I have a friend that has one, I can get cheap. I really don't care if it is stronger or the same. Right now I just need the car to run.

So everything will fit, axles drivesahft and clutch, that is awesome news, man. I'm happy. I will e-mail this guy and see if we can get a deal going.
Is it any stronger, decent replacement? Being from an STi I would think it at least should be a little better than what I have.

the V5 is a RA gear set. so it comes cryotreated. so it will be stronger than a USDM. i dont know about the whole drive shaft.

if anyone would like all the information on any Version or subaru info it is a great investment on the book "Impreza" by Brian Long.

yea it is kind of expensive for a soft cover but the information is priceless

Well if it comes down to it I could use the gears on my case and call it a day.

I've always seen that book around and never got to purchase it. I will now.

Whatever you do don't sell the suby. It looks sick as hell, just upgrade the tranny.

If you upgrade to the USDM 6-speed, I believe you'll need a new clutch and flywheel to made up with that trans. Would be a good opportunity to upgrade anyways, since you'll have the tranny out, regardless of which direction you go.

Well I have in there now an 8 month old Exedy stage 2 street disc, and ACT streetlite flywheel. It would be nice If I can get the ver 5 I was offered, I can probably use my old stuff.

you mean a ver 6, well i can tell why it happend your running an aftermarket cluth which puts a lot of strain on the gears
