I agree, the Shelby Chargers are rather rare cars, keep it srock...go find a dodge daytona or regular charger to play with...but there are many things you can do

boooo. if it's in nice shape, keep it in nice shape. if you can get it into nice shape, do that. the glhs was the numbered car, and if THAT'S what you've got, you may want to stop there. otherwise, decide how far you want to go. while shelby chargers are more and more difficult to come by, it's ALSO very difficult to find them commanding steep prices. i saw one for sale with just a few thousand miles on it, MINT in EVERY sense of the word, climate controlled garage kept original EVERYTHING and it went for something like 13000.
my list of things you can do without causing irreversable damage, yet still make your car more fun to drive...
bigger exhaust
get a t-II intercooler/radiator combo. expect to pay between $200-$300 used. and don't expect to find one for your charger. rather get one from a csx or daytona, then just have the one mounting pin cut and brazed or soldered back on in the right place. plumb the intercooler in and you're good to go.
get a grainger valve type boost controller. stock cutout is at 14.7 psi, which is something like 5 pounds higher than stock. try it, you'll like it!! get an af gauge first though. i'm 99.9 percent sure you'll have plenty of fuel, but every car is different. as an aside, you can also find a glhs stage II logic module which is set for 12 psi with overboost and also has a hotter ignition curve. last one i saw for sale went for $90. this will also make sure that you have more fuel.
all of these things are easily reversable if you choose, so i wouldn't sweat them too much.
on the OTHER hand, if your car looks like mine did, then GAME ON!!! dan saw it once upon a time. now it sports a 2.5 garret turboed custom intercooled hybrid transmissioned 12psi version of 8 valve technology, lol. ALMOST caught a skittle the other night. which reminds me...anybody know a guy with a silver srt-4 with some decals on both front fenders and a cute girlfriend? is his car REALLY stock? lol.
