View Full Version : S13.4 project FINALLY coming together BIG UPDATES!!!
Durdan

so since jamie got the super clean coupe as her car, i took over the hatchback project for my own next race car. i did the RHD conversion already and jamie completely stipped all sound deadening and paint out of the inside of the car. this is Mattbacks old 300SX chassis. its finally being put to good use.
as most of you know ive been talking about doing a 95-96 "zenki" front end on the car for a little over a yr now. well its finally coming together. we got one side almost totally complete now. the guy in the pics is my good friend matt (owns capri upholstery) who did Sucio's S14.3 front end. now we finally got together to do mine.
in 3 weeks the car goes to James at race related for the cage and shortly thereafter, straight to paint.
unlike mark, i will keep you posted on FURTHER developments (HAHAHAHA i <3 u mark)

now what we have planned for the car is to build one hell of a stout KA turbo setup. i cant help it, i love the way they drive. James will be doing a 7 point cage with nascar style side bars so im extra protected. the car will be sporting a version select v3 kit and im looking into maybe using the new megan race coilovers and who knows what else at this point. but look for another off the wall paint scheme like the last one, and a few cool ideas for the rest of the car. i like coming up with shit locals haent done yet, so well see what on the docket as we go....
good deal. i like the 95 s14 front end style, i dunno how it will end up looking on a hatch (id prefer coupe), but i know it'll look sweet.
are you doing a similar vmount style ka-t setup like last time? similar turbo sizing or perhaps t2 sr style for response (gt2871r bottom mount perhaps)?
either way it will probably kick ass. do keep us updated i love timelines.
Durdan
09-18-2005, 08:49 PM
this will be traditional intercooler/rad setup. i will run the same turbo as before bc i f-ing loved it! Precision SC50 .48a/r
and i chose the 95 front end a long time back bc the hatch is very curvy and so is the zenki front. a 95 front on a coupe would look stupid. 97-98s are at home on coupes.. i have a pic of a 95 front end on a coupe... blah

We can all hang together when I do R32 GTS-T fenders and GT-R hood/bumper. Just don't get rid of your cars for about 2 years!
It's good to see the old 300sx chassis being worked on again.

i think it goes well with the s13 hatch style..the roundness of the zenki flows well with the round hatch. keep up the good work!

so when you hit a wall you dont have any crumple zones and instead all the shock goes into your body and neck requiring you to have a HANS device to be safe
paul kersey
09-26-2005, 05:53 PM
crumple zone, schrumple zone.
satanshatch
09-26-2005, 06:54 PM
 Do they require HANS devices for Drift ? I dont think so.. The speeds are not high enough that I would think they absolutly require them. A Neck brace yeah, but a HANS ?
Epstein
09-26-2005, 07:36 PM
Nascar didn't require HANS a few years ago, and they're doing 190+mph. What does a requirement have to do with electing to wear one?
Saftey is relative. If you're worried about whiplash, then why are you adding 5lbs of weight to your head?
Taylor, did you only have the upper strut area stitched or did you hit other key points?

I know you know how to weld. I was just saying i only weld sub frames. no sheet metal, but it just seems the way you went and seam welded the strut towers doesnt look solid. Just doesnt look safe considering the strut towers are one of the most stressed points in the car.
