I posted this on another forum but wanted to see what you guys think? Within the next 3 weeks I'm losing 100lbs off the front of the car but found out I can loose 60lbs off the rear. Do you think that removing weight that puts pressure on the tires would be beneficial or do you think it would hurt my ET's? Discuss. Thanks. -Mark

if you could get some of the weight off of the nose and into the rear youd be better off. How about a battery relocation? that is an easy way to get 40#s off the nose and on the rear wheels

Did that about 3 years ago. I'm also gonna swap the 36lb stock battery for the 12lb odyssey battery for track use. -Mark

it might not help all that much in the 60ft but it will help you once you get going...if you think about it lighter is kind of faster as long as you have decent traction...

I say do it. Sounds like the majority of the current weight reduction is still coming off the front. As long as you dont upset the CG too much you should benifit overall. You nearly pull the wheels on every launch...as long as you can conitnue to transfer weight on launch you should be ok. Do you have adjustable shocks up front?

I think you should remove all that weight and then put some nitrous bottle back there :)

Al, I don't have adjustable struts. Good ol' fashioned 90/10's. Soon to be a full tubular front end. I'm thinking since the ratio of 100 front/60 rear which 100lbs of a total of 160 is 62% of the weight is being removed off the nose of the car that my CG may even sit back farther toward the rear. Good point about the CG. I never would have thought about that. Ok, I think I'll do it and remove the weight.

Oh and no power adder for me untill I get 11's. Then comes rods, pistions, T-trim and 20psi. :D -Mark

pull it.it shouldn't hert your 60ft times at all.see your c.g is at one point now once u pull the weight off the front u will change the c.g to more of the rear of the car so even if u take the 60 out the ass.u will still have a better c.g then u did to start with.

As long as you have enough traction, weight redux is a good thing.

for every 50lbs of total weight off the car is a 10th of a second

realistically it's for every 100lbs it's worth about .08 to .10, but that depends on a lot of things.

what are you doing to the rear to lose the weight?

Removing tail pipes, lightweight battery, removing factory speaker box. -Mark
