What do you get when you throw $20 and 2 hours together? *edit* its been 4 now that im finished... ran into a snag with the auto headlight and strobe control.

holy shit, that's nice. what's the mcd on the leds. did you put a resistor in the circuit to limit the amps? what ohm's and wattage?

can you write up a diy on this??

I guess the literal wattage would be about 8.5 watts, the LEDs are rated 22,000MCD at 20ma with a 20degree arc. The literal output from the lights is amazing. I am considering a headlight conversion based on the output from the foglights.

Theres no resistor, I chained them together to get a wider voltage tolerance (they operate between 12.6 and 14.4 volts)

I'm workin on the DIY write up, but im still perfecting them. These are version 2, the first set fried when I cranked the car and the voltage spiked.

how many leds did it take to operate in that range? how did you take care of the spike, I imagine an inducter would help as it opposes a change in current. I have heard that the car industry is thinking of going to leds as headlights cause of the effectiveness and cost of production. I have some of the 22k mcd leds and they are bright as hell. let us know when the write up is finished.

3.2v minimum
3.4 v nominal
3.6 v maximum voltage

Chain 4 together and you get a tolerance of about 12.6 to 14.4 volts. reach LED is rated at 22,000 mcd - I bought them online so I have reservations about the true rating. THey look more like 10,000 MCD to me. each eye has 32 LEDs.

Because the tolerance for the LEDs matches the cars voltage regulator I had no need for additional regulation. I did add a small capacitor just to make them fade on & off and bot punch with my system.
Right now they are pointed down so I dont get a ticket but if aimed right they would be very close to projector quality light. of course since they arent in a cluster its not very drect light.

I'm waiting for rain to test my water proofing and to see if I get a ticket for the brightness before I start the HL conversion - 96 LEDs in cluster form a true monster

Cadillac, lexus, and some Audis already have LED Tail and/or Headlights. Hybrid cars will most definitely convert because of the engergy effectiveness. My OEM foglights consumed >5 amps each when running, thse LEDS are brighter, run cooler, and consume less than .6 amps

I I dunno about the "beam" but the output is great, everything glows blue when they are on.By no means will they replace the headlights, they are too low. But I imagine that if they were higher and in a cluster form they would be on par with OEM lights(only blue).

You can check em out at the sunday clearwater meet, or you can buy my kit off ebay ;) Ill take more pics tonite and try to photo this beam you speak of :D

You are not a member of the attentionwhore club ;)

It's not surprising though, attention whoring requires a special skill, and lack of a of life...

Well for the price I could put them in for off road lights in a custom housing, but I'd need them brighter, I'll wait to see the "cluster" variety

do those cover up the fog lights completely? I wanna do this but i NEED my fogs

I actually did this to my dome lights in my truck. Took out the stock housing and put in little boards with LED's mounted to them in the dome lights. The inside of my truck at night lights up a hyper hyper white

mine do, but theres no reason you cant cut the middle out... they sit 1.25 inches up on top of your lenses. I did mine simply to add some style while reducing power consumption so I pulled the bulbs completely
