well, after getting a new best in her car, everything went downhill from there. next run, it tossed the main belt. so, IROCBeerBeer and i go to the parts store and get a new one. get one and have time for one more run. i toss the belt on that run as well. found it at about the 100ft mark. car missing pretty good. limped it to the shop. figured it broke a valve spring. well, i'm not so lucky on that one. pretty much figured out it's piston damage. haven't taken anything apart. here's pics of what's left of the #2 spark plug.

That sucks man. I experienced that a few times and finally I broke every ringland off #7. I do feel your pain.

wet or dry? Maybe check the injector.. How were the rest of them?

wet. pulled #4 and it's fine.

Pull the injector and have it tested... #2 is strange to burn up.

the plug was dark from fuel stains just like #4. i used a boroscope to look into the cylinder. from what little i could see, i don't see any scarring of the wall. piston top looked okay. all i could see clearly was from 12:00 to 3:00 position of the wall and most of the piston.

well, i have the good, the bad, and the ugly of the motor. i took the passenger head off today.
the good - not the piston. not a scratch on it.

the bad - it took out the exhaust valve and part of the head.

the ugly - the following pics

Like I said in another thread. Visual isnt usually the best case. When I destroyed every ring land on my #7, my piston look great, the cylinder walls, looked great, but I pulled the piston out and got pieces. Fix the head and see what happens :)

in your case, did you have any head damage? i know, i'm trying to go the lazy route. new theory is it leaned out and burned the valve up. where it's missing the big chunk is right where the spark plug is pointed at. when i take the front cover off to put the cam in, i'll see if i can locate and piston pieces.

Sweet man! I would do a leakdown on the one cylinder to double check.

be nice if i had one. what i did do was pour a cleaner (kinda like lighter fluid) into #2 and #4. had both pistons at he same height. that way the same amount was in them. after 10 minutes, neither had leaked down. an hour, both had lost the same level. now, that won't account for ringlands broke under the 2nd ring. but, what would be the chances of that? nothing in the pan. and i looked through the cam hole. didn't really see anything obvious through there either. but, knowing my liuck, it's broke. we'll see in the next couple of days.

The liquid really wont do much because the rings will still seal it, also, while running, your dealing with compressed air. Not trying to be an ass or anything, just an FYI :)

Good luck with it bro and let us know how she does. Hope the ol' lady didnt kick your ass too bad ;)

i know. but, it would've told me if the top ring itself was broken. the other thing i could've done was make a plate to bolt over the cylinder with a hose end on it. that way i could've put compressed air to the cylinder. but, didn't have any metal lying around. i'll most likely put compressed air to the cylinder once the head is on. that way i'll know before i start it.

track last night. new best on motor. slower on n2o. lost the pass front o2. have some dyno results. but, i think i have a bad injector to boot. best i could get was 14:1 AF. so, these are preliminary results until i can get all this situated.

seeing as it was cooler than sept 19th, i'll use the best run i had back in 27 jan 2005
there was some differences bolt on wise
borla 3" adjustable catback
no cats
