View Full Version : Weight Reduction (postwhore)
yes I am the GM tech PostWhore.
but I hope some of the questions I have asked have became useful?
but I need to know what is best weight reduction wise?
I just removed spare tire and jack and swaybar... those are the only ones I can really think of.. anything else? air pump I heard weighs 16oz... I shit that much... so its not worth buying a new belt

Back seat and seatbelt assemblies are around 25 lbs. Empty that HUGE winshield washer resevoir? Also, check out LS1Tech, the Drag racing Tech forum has a weight reduction sticky that lists about everything you can remove, along with weight savings.

-ac
-air pump
-power steering
-back seats
-passanger seat
-center console
-light weight wheels
-spare tire
-jack
-exhaust
-carpet & insulation
-passanger
-door panels
-windsheild washer fluid and system
-almost empty gas tank
or you can add more power and enjoy the comforts of a factory interior

i never thought of that. does anybody else do this?
I don't. I have tried it before on the street. Maybe 10 hp. You can't go far tho.
Maybe if I get stuck at a time landmark

short belt mod is worth a solid 0.05 (5 hundredths) in my experience. its mostly a dyno cheating mod.

jumping up and down does nothing...yea, its lighter for a second, and then heavier as soon as you come back down. inertia sucks.
