how many of you are not going to lift ;before attacking the first turn
it doesnt matter how fast youre going before it, dont lift off, super super duper early initiate
if you go up the ramp, catch air it will be cool
who else is ready?

Tony Shultz did that in my car on his first run in it....3rd gear, didn't lift, we slid right off the track....kinda scary <---passenger in my own car.

I've done a "no-lift" in a KA, but in a SR, the speeds are so much faster.

Matt, are you serious.... people actually lift going into the first turn? :) Even driving Ray's S14 with the 235's in back I never lifted until the right hand transfer. Full throttle, bang 2nd and start a big feint. Hell, I've never driven my own car at that track... but I think you guys might have moved the start line back from where I've driven it.
And jumping the hill...... hahahahahahaha, I thought we might go over it when I rode shotgun in Rocks RHD S14. Scary as hell, RHD passenger side is just weird feeling anyway, and then being passenger/instructor in a drift event.... not good.

yea the start point is alll the way back from the edge of the track surface (at the far end of the oval)
and seriously, EVERYONES car has a 'no lift' point for the first turn, there will be a different point for cars but there is always gonna be one, it wont be obvious maybe but if you think about it...
nolifting and...
you have 80mph and slide off track a little, if you start a little sooner, you will be a little slower too, too far back and you wont make the turn... there is an 'equilibrium point' for any car
just takes guts and a car you can trust at that speed/angle.

HAHA, Matt you crack me up. This is great. BTW, I only lifted to start the drift then it was back to the power. Actually I lied, I never had it at 100% throttle, more like 70%, Im a bigger wuss than I thought.
Ill be on the sidelines spectating this time, but I wanna hear rev limiters bouncing from the start of the corner all the way through.

ok he is not talkign about not lifting throughout the WHOLE turn, he is saying from start point to the first turn INITIATION not lifting... ie accelerating to XXmph and then kickign it sideways. then its ebrake + throttle, there is no way you could mash the accelerator from start all the way through that first turn and not crash.... (especially in the enjuku cars) if you full throttle youll either go off the track from too much speed (to the 'ramp'), or go inside of the corner (to the poles) from too much turn in angle.
if you are even THINKING of trying this, you'll have to use ebrake to slide your car for the end of the straightaway.
i could be wrong tho i guess... we will see
it may be possible if you skip the chicane and do the straight after the first turn

if you have to use the e-brake your not feinting enough. haha, give that wheel a tug, she'll come around on you, promise.

sry probably a stupid question but do u have to be a registered driver to ride along?

im not talking about the ABILITY to get it sideways. im talking about sliding the earliest without side-to-side drifting (manji) the straight away... using the ebrake will allow the earliest drift initiation point.
either way... have fun.
steve
08-24-2005, 10:53 PM
wait till matt hear's you talking about the ebrake entry
i'm all about faint
box240mod
08-24-2005, 11:52 PM
ok, nevermind, no one understands what im getting at, i was describing a super long entry drift with just a little steering 'shimmy' before hand. I to thing feint is awesome, but I was not under that impression since he said 'attacking the first turn'.... to me it sounds like he is going to have his first drift be in the direction of the turn, and not do a feint before it.
its like in FD, most of the drivers ebrake the first turns but some, especially mike peters of Bubba Drift, with feint into it. But also because feint is a little lower speed, and FD guys are all about high speed entry....
i guess only time will tell.

rev limter. US bmw owners hit that turn in 3rd. @ like 3500 rpm, but i have a 3.73 lsd and i think the gearing is a little tighter than a s13.
Matt Vassallo
08-25-2005, 03:23 PM
ok i think there is a problem here.
i dont want to see you guys facing the opposite direction of the turn for a long time.. its like.
its all about being faced in the direction youre going, before the turn, for a really long time. then holding it sideways the whole time, not flicking it back the other direction.
if you are feinting the opposite direction, you're just wasting speed and energy and losing points.
weight shift is totally cool, but set it all up for early initiation into the turn..

i am game.
hey greazy can i get a reserved ride with you? i'd like to reserve it now i dont want the same thing that happened with zack to happen with me and plus i finnally got a helmet
box240mod
08-25-2005, 07:06 PM
yea, so i was following your thoughts correctly. I don't think many people grasp how much more difficult it is to do that than feint... the speed and distance your goingto be sideways BEFORE the turn even comes up will prolly be about half that straight... from the first ocala DDAY.... left angle the whooooole damn way.... and into a decreasing radius. too bad the track is sooo skinny, really lowers the allowable speed and makes this style of initiation more difficult.
piner
08-26-2005, 01:01 PM
yeah but it would be damn cool if you could pull it off

08-27-2005, 05:36 PM
A lot of people think "Ebrake = you suck", but for super early initiation, I agree with Boxmod that it's sort of necessary, especially on a narrow course like Ocala.
Our insurance mandates that any passenger must be a registered driver.
