there was a car show and stuff in new port richey tonight. they had lots of old cars there. but then you had new cars there too :wtf: . as i was leaving a pack of newer 1998-2004 mustangs pulled in. the one guy wouldn't stop reving his motor :wtf: god, i only see 30-40 mustangs a day.

what are they thinking. wow, look at how clean my new car is?
the thing that i found really funny was that the guys in the mustangs where in there 40's-50's. come on, they should know better.

also, i don't understand kids today. there was this nice buick skylark gt convertible with a 454, a ford lighting and some other really nice car on the other side of the lighting. there was a bunch of kids checking out the lighting and they didn't give the other cars a second look :wtf:

maybe someone should take them to a car lot instead of a car show.

then i was talking to a old guy what had a walker. he had a gremlin there. a 16-17 year old girl started laughing really loud and yelled O MY GOD IS THAT A PINTO! then laughed again really loud and yelled again O MY GOD IS THAT A PINTO! laughs loud again and asks the guy with the walker ( who's owns the car) O MY GOD IS THAT A PINTO! i felt sorry for the guy. he just bought the car 2 months ago and it's clean. not my taste but he likes it.

it was hot and i got drunk :dunno:

I know what you mean, I hate seeing that at car shows. I always make the comment to my wife "if I wanna look at new cars, I'll go to the dealership".

74,
I do agree with you in a way but there is some issues.
I do have a new Trans Am,If it up to me I would have an old muscle car,and I do hope to have one in the future when I have a good job and can pay to have two cars. The friends I have out with respect the older muscle because most of us have grown up around it. I help my dad build his muscle cars,Ive helped him build a 31 plymouth,a 67 pro street nova, and my moms 65 mustang. See Ive grown up around real 350's and 302's. Most kids 16-17 havent. They've grown up around Hondas and imports. Dont put down everybody with a new car. We put alot of hard work into our cars too. Sometimes its harder for us because of all the BS computer stuff we have to go around. Some older ppl can be stupid to with reving there new mustang and stupid stuff, its not all kids. Just stating my opinion on this. I respect all american cars,old/new they all deserve respect.

firebirdguy. in my post i said the guys where in there 40-50's. BTW i really like the newer firebirds. if i was to get a newer car it would be a firebird. they are mean looking. if your car was stock would you take it to a car show? get my point. i guess i should of add stock or with a few crome bolt on's to my first post.

i don't mind the regular car shows. but this was a city's once a year party/car show that was packed. i think they call it ( a night in the tropics). there was no room for any more cars.

if i had a new modded car i would take it to some car shows but it would have to have more than a few chrome bolt on's

listen to this story- i met this guy with around a 1999 mustang. all stock with a little chrome under the hood. he has lots of trouphys and i see this big 6 ft'er with a 68-69 camaro on top. well the story goes he took his mustang to a camaro club show and won over 60's-70' camaros (peoples choice). he said they where pissed and i would of been too.

PS: the guy is in his late 40's- 50's

I completely agree w/ you javelin!

Firebirdguy you are right about this generation growing up around all imports. And I wouldn't fault anyone for buying a new car if thats what they want. But to win a show w/ a new car compared to others that are over 35 yrs old, I do have a problem w/ that. You can't compare new to old, and theres no way as much time went into the bolt ons on a new car compared to the restoration of a classic. (I know you weren't arguing the car show point, I was just mentioning it :) )

I actually had the Chevelle for sale once and was looking at getting a Firebird. Looking back I am sooo glad it didn't sell. I was selling it for all the wrong reasons.

I'm only 23 years old, so I essentially get to see my peers acting like assholes at car shows. It's a damn shame, isn't it?

I like to go to the old car show here in Dade City sometimes and look at all the older, non recognized cars. The teens around here arent quite as bad since we're all country bumpkins, the cars that get the most attention are the old pick-up trucks especially the '71 chevy 4x4 with a vette swap.

Hey,Your just mad cuz I beat you over the bridge during Rolling Thunder! :-D
I love your car tho, sounds Sweet!
Like I said I know how much work goes into restoring, try doing one from 1931,not to many parts cars for that. I wasent argueing beacause sometimes I think that also, but I have as much right to show off my car as the old cars do.

 That was you . I would have had you if it wasn't for my gear lol. That was a fun night.

Wow, restoring something from 1931 would be a challenge. Did you get it finished?

Don't get me wrong, you Do have just as much right to show off you car as anyone else. I know I'm guilty of thinking that just because it's newer it must not have anything more than bolt ons. I know thats not always true. I guess I just wish that when people are at Classic Car Shows, they wouldn't enter their new car in the show so they are eligible for a trophy. Park it and pop the hood w/ the others, just don't enter it. I can appreciate just about anything as well :).

Yea thats me,remember you waved to the camara!LOL
Yea we got the 31 done and we sold it to build the 67 Pro Street Nova. The guy that bought it takes it up to the Ronnie show at Burger King. Its yellow with TT2's. Some shows do have year limits. Its a car show, were car guys can take there babies out and show it off. The sucky side is that there are stupid kids that make fun of good looking old cars. They just dont understand what a real car is. Even if its a Pinto/Gremlin,they make mean Pro Streets!

on your first point, the mustang guys show up becouse alot of the mustang clubs have their meets at car shows.

i stoped going to car shows becouse the crap the people think are show cars. old or new. people buy cars and put a pin strip on them and think they have something to show off.
