since you have a WGA is there a point to have a boost controller?
HMCK20

absolutely gotta control boost some how!

just turn the wga... that controls the boost, specially a MBC, if it was a EBC i could understand but a MBC on a WGA is.... pointless, i guess its just easier to get to???

i know this but whats easier adjusting preload with no real general idea of how much movement equals how much increase or decrease. or turning a allen screw that one whole turn is about one psi?

You are going to have to set the boost you want by adjusting the WGA and then you use the MBC to get more boost than the amount you set the WGA to. It seems a lot of the Ohio guys are dynoing more HP with JUST the WGA set to the boost they want with no MBC. That's my plan at this point instead of the stage 2 WGA and a MBC like I have now. The only reason I would use a boost controller is if it was an EBC that you can change on the fly.

with a wga and no boost controller, you boost goes up every gear correct? I had just a wga on my car, and 1st would be like 16, 2nd was 18, 3rd 19, and then 4th and 5th I would blow out the spark. None of you guys have that problem now? I have a wga dn mbc and I spike 19 and drop to about 16 every gear, and my car dynod pretty damn well for what I had.

My car sees a higher spike with the MBC than it did with just the stage 2 WGA, but all in all that doesn't relly help much. It seems like AGP WGA by itself or with an EBC are the way to go, just beware the part throttle overboost!

I set mine for a 4th gear 19psi spike so I see around 14 in 1st, 16 - 17 in 2nd and 3rd. The stage 2 WGA is a pain in the butt, running the AGP WGA off of the green line should give you the best results. The boost controller does give you more of a spike and then lets it drop down so I really think the AGP WGA alone is going to give the best results inless you want to run an in car EBC.

If I let my wga dictate what boost I had, I'd have lower in the first two gears, then too much in the top two. Where I have my wga set at now, I think that it would spike above 20 in every gear, and would holt about 16. The boost controller keeps the boost at 19 instead of letting it get out of hand and spike to like 24 or something, then it drops to 16. With the wga alone, you might get it to hold 13 or 14, but you'll be pushing the envelope on whether you'll blow spark, expecially without S1. I could be wrong...if you try it and it works, let me know, I might go that way instead.

Wow,the most i see is 11-12psi in first all the way to redline, anymore boost and going from a dig would be utterly pointless to me,traction is still shitty, spinning till 60=teh win.

Of course it can be made to work, but most people that run just the AGP seem to make more HP and have less issues.

yea i heard that boost increases with every gear. no matter what works better or whatever im gonna use some kind of boost contolling device no 19 psi for me plus the 16g maxium effiency is only 20 psi so..... parts will be here shortly!!! and jason be sure to call me before you get to workin on your paint! 727-420-8474

They help, no doubt about that. THey aren't too bad putting them in, but they are a litte bit of a bitch.

motor mounts are real easy... cheap mods... get a 160 stat too

closed loop is at 150 I believe. I have the 180 in mine, and it works fine. Ken's runs great as well with the 160 in it. Personal preference on the t-stat. and if you get the prothane mm inserts, get the red ones.

im not sure what to do i think im gonna go with 180 cause i dont wanna be go in and out of the closed loop.

That's what I have. It actually runs a litle bit cooler than 180. Make sure that if you do it by yourself, tht you put a bucket ot something under your car where the t-stat is. It leaks everywhere.

I have the 180 Tstat also and am completely happy with this one. It's easier to find at Pepboys/Napa than the 160 is which made the choice easy.

You can find the stant brand at Pepboys.
Stant part #29788
I say stay away from the 160'S. Maybe use the 180, even those I dont recommend any more. After having both, and doing serious logging back in the day.
1.They make the temp more unstable. Especially in stop n go or low speed driving.
2.Cause more gas consumption
3. Some times the PCM never sees operating temperatures with the 160.
I have found that a fresh mix of coolant, mixed correctly with distilled water and redline water wetter does a perfect job with the stock thermo, without causing unstable temps, or screwing with the gas consumption. Some say redline can cause some glycol build up or something, but I believe in the flush once a year policy, so I'll take that chance.
Earlier this year I swtiched back to a stock thermo, with the proper mix. I probably went over the midline once since then.
