Lowering and tires...

Debating dropping my ranger 5/6, and I havent made my mind up on tires. I'll be getting 99 cobra wheels in silver, and i have 2 tire options. I can do that drop with 245/45/17, or drop a little less and go with 255/55/17 which should be around 28" tall. My stock tires are a thin 28.5 tall.

he plan is to eventually make it much quicker, and im hoping that it'll handle much better than stock.

suggestions?

The height doesn't sound right. I've got 255/70/17's and they are 27.5" tall. I'll find the conversion thing that I did to get it. But with it being an Edge I'd go with the wider so the wheels stick out a lil with the fender flares.

it'd probably be 2/3 or so. maybe 3/4

My own calculations say that a 245/45/17 should be around 25.5-26 inches. I believe this is almost accurate.
After checking it at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html it says 25.7". I would go with these and you will have good performance out of them.
