04 SRT-4
Car seems to overheat while sitting in spots while running. with a/c on and without it on.
we got a stock thermostat from napa, we are going to replace it tomorrow, that should fix the problem.
has any1 else had this problem with there SRT-4 or no. and also if any1 else can think of anything else it might be let me know.

chances are if its only overheating while sitting in place its the radiator fans or the fan relay, its always been something to do with the fans in any overheating in place situation I have ever had(3 or 4 with both cars) I suppose it could also be the head gasket...but unless the temperature is flucuating wildly its almost certainly not the thermostat...cant hurt to replace though

If its overheating then I would definitely have to agree with Josiah b/c when a/c is on your fan should be running and you should have lower operating temps but just to make sure you know our cars run very warm stock right? Normal operating temps are between like 160-210 so its normal for it to go above halfway on the guage. Most people just replace the stocker with a 180 t-stat and bada-bing all better

Mine was low on coolant when I bought it. I have never been able to keep coolant in the reserve tank. I have had to top of my coolant only twice in 12000 miles but I have gotten hot cause I was low on coolant and my fans work fine. Maybe his has the same issue.
Was it really overheating? Or just climbing past the 210 mark? just above midway?
Mine used to do it too,but when I did S3r, I put new coolant. 50/50 mix and half bottle redline water wetter. She rarely ever goes over the mid point now, even on the hottest ass days.
Also, burping the rad cna help if you have air trapped inside.

driving it stayes a mid temp but as soon as you stop in place or leave running without driving it goes all the way up.

THis is normal. My car, as well as every SRT that I personally have seen with the 180 in it does this.

if your constantly having to put coolant in...no matter what some say its not normal to go over 210 degrees(just a shade above halfway on the stock idiot light) I know you dont want to hear this...but I would consider changing out the head gasket and water pump, after you do the thermostat anyway...as well as flushing the radiator(maybe replacing it if its found to be bad)

I've been questioning my HG the whole time as my issue. I'm sure I may be joining the blown HG crew soon enough. Man the wife is going to be mad I blew up her daily driver.

Hard to say with the warranty situation, look at Skittle.

Oh he has a 180? Get rid of that then. I did...never looked back
