I ran a 14.2 stock with a vaccum cleaner in the trunk. Now I have NGK 4306 @.045, K&N Drop in, Tip Mod, Stage 2 wastegate, homemade ball and spring boost controller, 180 T Stat and I may do the welfare exhaust before the meet and I won't have anything in the trunk this time so I am hoping for some mid 13's. :dunno:

Stage 2 no toys, MBC, CAI, 3" catless dp to borla catback, spearco monster FMIC with coldside hardpipe and ricer bov, 55mm TB, ported IM, MSD wires w/ NGK 4306's @.35 i think, 225 street tires and either race gas or a lil toluene I think thats it...never ran at the track before so I just hope I don't make an ass of myself, probably low 13's I hope.

A 1.8 6' time would mean like a 12.2 60' and a 1 minute 1/4 time. AWESOME!

I don't know if I'm the only retard that didn't know this, but if you are planning on running a sub 13.99 second pass, you need to have a helmet to run. I havent been to the track in like 3 months, but someone told me that you have to have a helmet becasue of the NHRA rules, and BMP becoming a NHRA track. I checked it out, and it is in the 2005 NHRA rulebook. Just FYI for anyone that is a retard like me.

Helmet's have been a rule for sub 14 seconds passes for years, sometimes they enforce it at BMP, sometimes they don't. I know that sub 12's and you needed a roll cage until this year which is now 11.49's or faster. Anyone have some helmets?

I'm gonna run to Walmart and check them out tomorrow... cant hurt to have one if you plan to go fast anyway.

I know that Pepboys has helmets, I don't think the Walmart Bike Helmets are going to cut it but you can grab some white shoe polish for everyone to use when we get to the track.

haha... no, Wal mart has motorcycle helmets as well. They are full face DOT approved hemlets. I just have to check out the price.

Damn, that could be a PITA, how often do they actually enforce it? Oh well, if they do I'll just borrow a helmet or watch, no biggie for me

I'm gonna go buy one now... if my big ass head will fit in it, so will anyone elses. We'll see if they acutually enforce it. If you run, and they tell you you have to have one, you can use mine.

Shoe polish for what? do they write your number on the helmet?

Fast420A
08-10-2005, 01:45 PM
You have to write your number on the window of the car and everyone always forgets to bring it.

CobraSpdRH
08-10-2005, 02:08 PM
Man all these rules and requirements, anything else...I've heard before that you have to have below a certain amount of gas in your tank to get race gas @ the track is this true? I mean it would make sense to have very little anyways but just want to make sure its not a mandatory requirement. 20 bucks to get in and run down some asphalt and they can't even provide the shoe polish!?!?

SnowMann
08-10-2005, 02:14 PM
You don't need shoe polish....

When you get to front of the staging lanes on your 1st run....one of the BMP crew will look at your wristband, get your number from it, and then write it on your window.

Wow...have none of you been to the track before?

SnowMann
08-10-2005, 02:29 PM
Also if you plan to buy a helmet...be sure that you get one that is Snell approved>That way if you ever decide to auto-x your car, you'll have a legal helmet.

FWIW: I know it won't do you much good for this event but http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?store=Outlet&productId=339888&catId=401&leafCatId=40103 has some good deals on Snell approved helmets. $49 + $6 shipping= $55

Yea, I just got mine, and it's DOT approved for motorcycle and car racing.... dunno, I got it for like 50 bucks at a yamaha dealership. and yea, I knew about the shoe polish, they will write that shit on the window when we get there.

DOT and Snell arent the same thing. BMP just wants to see a lid of some sort...if you go out and auto-x they want to see the helmet to make sure its Snell approved...Sebring will want to see a SA2000 Snell certification. Its all in your noggins best interest though. :bigthumb:

That would be interesting I haven't read up on too many threads with SRT's spraying and their timing effects
