formula d said the tires didnt really fit the guidlines, because they were never really available to the public, due to the limited production and high cost.
so by the logic kumho used, you could make 10 tires for the team that were some super awesome compound, but were for sale to the public for 5000 each, just to fit rules.
figured it might lead to unfairness, and people cheating the rules. sucks, but makes sense.

All of that hype over those tires just to get banned. Great thinking by Kuhmo. :tard:

My brother has a ton of vids and pics. He will be back tomorrow.

I think its ironic that a "motorsport" competition with no subjective scoring is banning red tires because they are unfair. Nothing is fair or unfair in drifting because there really aren't any rules.

fordified you have no idea what you're talking about, so please stay out.

the tires were banned , not red smoke, but any super limited production tire.

this is because it would make the tire companies build special drift speicfic tires , not nec. smoking red, but for super high grip and high temperature build up, and make them only available to certain teams. aka. bridgestone, ferrari, formula 1.

so we got the short end of the stick.

kumho is working on that right now to make our tires legal once again.

and there are MANY rules in drifting.

Car manufacturers do the same thing in motorsports. IE M3GTR. Rules said that it had to be a "production car" with a run of 400 units. So, BMW just cranked out 400 of them. I could speculate all day about what Kumho could do to make them more legal-er, but it would be just that.

So.... any tales from the road? Saw some black miata hanging out by your hauler... what's up with that?

What teams were affected by this rule at the Chicago event? I'm guessing just yours right? Sounds like they made a broad stroke rule that pretty much singled you guys out.

So its cool to run a car with a motor that was never offered in this country, and run whatever other parts you want to run, except for tires now? See my point above.

so we got the short end of the stick.

Yes you did, see my point above :D

Good, I'd like to see them turn it into a production tire so we can see what the sanctioning bodies will come up with then to try and squeeze them out.

and there are MANY rules in drifting.

I'm sure there are, but I bet most are geared at safety and what type of bleach can be used on the Japanese drivers hair

I know there are rules, but they are far less strict than most racing sanctioning bodies.

Matt Vassallo

like any new motorsport, they are learning just how competitive people get when it comes to the rules, and how cose people will get to breaking them without actually breaking the written rule bok's wording.
