Just a thread to attempt to get this sub-forum active. :dunno:

I just got a 60GB iPOD Photo for my 21st birthday and hooked it up to my headunit using this AUX adapter, only costs ~$15 bucks.

I ran the mini-stereo jack under the shifter/cup holders and into my arm rest. The cable just comes out through a hole already in the arm rest, so I can tuck the cable away if needed. So I just hop in my car, plug the cable into the headphone jack, and set the iPOD in the cup holder. My headunits radio quality sucks and the CD is OK... seems to have gone down hill over time. The quality with the iPOD is VERY nice though. No more burning MP3/WMA cds!

Edit: If I hold the mini-stereo jack on some metal in my car... I get this super sweet and loud alternator feedback noise. Sounds like a super-charger, OMG!!!! :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard:

^lol, you can only hear it if you turn the volume up...alot...and even then, it isnt audible much. I also don't care about the headunit. :-P Anyways, its sweet!

P.S.: You're ;-)

touching any HU input/output lead to ground holds the possibility of damaging the HU. some HUs have protection liek amps do against grounding but as a general rule its not a good idea.

NoTLaDStyle: I'll have to hit ya up when the time comes.

Kirk: The iTrip is MORE expensive than the adapter AND the quality is less!

How is plugging an iTrip in any more convenient than plugging in a cord? With you, you gotta set your radio station... with me i gotta hit the CD/AUX button. Seems the same amount of work involved. :dunno:

My solution was cheaper and provides better audio quality. :naughty:

Kirk, where the hell do you the idea that I suggest "I invented" the idea? For you, the iTrip might be better.

All I said was that.... for me, the AUX input is the obvious better solution to hook up my iPod to my car's stereo, because, its cheaper, better audio quality, hook up other portable devices, and just as convenient.

Nah, the CD drive works, just for some reason the quality of the FM and CD has gone down ALOT.
