i'm thinking of going and letting the girlfriend make a few passes in my car. she's driving me nuts and i thought a few runs might help her mood :dunno:

i've got to work tomorrow so i won't get there until around 7 or so. my motor is half dead and i hope it makes it there and back. i've got too small of a carb and i have a intake leak. i'm not sure i'm even running on all 8 cylinders. so i would think i'll pull a very slow 9.5 out of the half dead stock motor. 31 year old motor, never been rebuilt. what's the chances of it not blowing up and making it back to port richey :dunno:


update i just got off the phone and i've lined up a tow home ;-)

it won't blow i was just kidding. i only rev it to 4800-5000r's. but it might break down. but it has never broke down on me yet. it just keeps running. it's not running that hot. but i'm not going to waste my time/money on it when i've got a new motor sitting on a engine stand waiting to go in.

just something to do to get our minds off of the heat and work.

but then again the girlfriend is going to be manually shifting it for the first time :dunno:

the girlfriend first run was a 10.99. i was like wtf she really messed up. so i had a little talk with her. she pulled a 10.50.
ok so i get in the car to show her how it done. I know i'll pull a 9.50 aleast with this old beat up motor.
10.289 with a 2.61 60ft. wtf

well, i lost 2 tenths on my 60ft and 3 tenths on my 1/8 going from a open 3.15 rear to a 3.70 posi. wtf

the problem was i changed the carb too and the secondaries wouldn't open on this carb. same size carb, holley 600 vac secondaries. i should of known when i went from useing 1/4 tank of gas to get to tampa with a 3.15 gear to a 1/8 of a tank after the carb change with 3.70 gears.

drive to sunshine from port richey, 3 runs and trip back running 3000'rs and up and i only used a 1/4 tank. i've only got a 12 gallon tank. dam, i'm getting good gas mileage.

He broke his leg.......But i am happy with my new tires.I got some good runs in.I raced a car that looked like a javilin that had a girl in it.I only lost once to a white hatch 5.0 with h,c,i and it was by 1/2 car.,so im in a good mood.Did you get me beating the h/c/i vert?

Hm must have been awhile ago. Win lose or draw I'm mainly racing my best times to try and get better. I'm trying to be a tadpole is this big ass pond. I cant say I remember that race but glad neither of us crashed or broke eh.

I got 5 runs in. Realized that I suck at launching my car. Best I could muster was a 9.9 @ 69 with a 2.2 60'. It wasnt all bad though. I walked away with 2 wins. One against a 1st gen RX7 and another against my buddy's V6 Mustang. The WRX is blue for anyone who's wondering.

My technique (or lack thereof) was keeping the revs at 4-5k and mashing the gas on the second yellow, then letting of the clutch like I just stepped in dogshit. After that failed I started slipping it more, but that didnt work either. I would sidestep it at 7k, but I kinda like this tranny :lol:. Practice makes perfect I guess....

Hey did you happen to get a vid of any of my passes? I think it's getting some wheel spin at the top of second but cant really feel it in the car but it would explain some things. Video might answer my question.
