Hahaha, I don't think people realize - I'm the guy who usually runs tech inspection / start. I work for DG, so I will be there no matter what. I would really like to take it out though, maybe during lunch break...
It feels weird on the street, but mostly because the suspension settings that made it somewhat dialed in for awd make it completely whack for rwd. Much testing and tuning is needed.

I researched somewhere online that Scubys rear drive shafts and diff are only capable, at most, of supporting 3/4 of the motor's power. If this fact is true, then dude, rwd burnouts arent good for that car.

I fully plan on having it break, and when it does I will build it bigger and badder.
ugly and hott at the same time...

Well, it is hooked up with some really pimp looking meshes on some decent tires...
...but I blew up the REAR diff tonight.
The ultra-cool factory R180 Torsen grinds and goes nowhere. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to get something that may fit? Or anyone have a line on a Ford 9" or some other solid axle?

You could always go to subaru and spend 600 and some change for a new lsd in pumpkin.... or 1400+ for a vlsd ;)
Or crack it open and weld the crap out of it.

i vote for the weld..
mranlet
08-03-2005, 09:14 AM
If it will weld, we will weld it.
If not, it looks like maybe a Ford 9" or J30...
I got to see a live performanc yesterday BAD ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

have to say i sw that one coming. but i hope you get it fixed shouldn't 2.5rs parts work in that?????

R180? I thought that those came with R160's... I know that all the Impreza's do. Only the STi has the R180. The pumpkin that Subaru uses looks a lot like old Datsun R180's. You might take a few measurements and then head out to Cophers.

SHOULD is the key word - I had bought a pre-welded 2.5RS center differential and it was eledged to fit (the part numbers even matched my Legacy Center Diff), but it did not. Since then, I'm not trusting fitments until I can put the part in and drive away with it. I'd imagine that the 2.5RS parts would fit, or at least hope that they would, since the RS canme with a rear VLSD, which would be pretty good for what I'm trying to do. The diff housing looks kinda like a steer skull or something, it's probably 2 feet long and only houses a 6.25" ring gear :dunno:
I want to make sure that I have something that I can really beat on, but I'm worried that my new infinite-way diff may destroy my axles, so I'm in the market for a Ford 9" or Toyota Truck rear end. Yes, converting to solid axle is, IMO, a bit ahead of a welded rear end on the hardcore scale, and I will definitely be retaining the WRX coilovers ;)

Put an 03-04 Cobra IRS in there if you're going to spend the time fabbing something complicated. That 8.8 is going to be just as strong and will handle anything you can throw at it power wise.
Your car is never going to weigh 3900 lbs+ or have 390 ft. lbs of torque, so it would last forever.
I don't understand everyone's fixation with the 9" rearend. 8.8's can be just as strong, you can get them off of a parts car with factory disks and every Mustang shop on the planet sells a plethora of gear ratios for them. Shims are easier to come by as well. Just some worthless info for you guys.

You need to look at your testing WTB thread you made my anlet, there was several ppl posting up sn95 rear ends for you

It's a sloid rear axle that is badass. Mustang IRS blows, hands down and I will never ever voluntarily put one in any car I own.

shot to the heart! jk....the solid rear axle would be good for drifting.

I know some people may not like it, but at least they could refrain from doing something like this (This happened last night aparently, while I was out of town...)

I don't know who or why anyone would do this, I don't really have the kind of personality that gets people mad at me :dunno: I think it was maybe just some asshole kids trying to feel big or something, but they sure do suck at graffitti.
I'm gonna see what our (XAT) body shop suggests or what can be done about it. I guess at worst it will mean new paint job and some replacement rubber mouldings, but insurance ought to cover it.
In the meantime, I'll just acetone the license plate and hit the streets econo-can paintjob style.
...oh, and put in a survailence system ;)

damn man, thats fucked up,i actully liked that car too..why the hell would some one do that? i dont think it was kids doin graffiti,cause...may sound funny, but theres kinda unwritin rules of graff, and writing on personal cars or property is not cool by graff writers...so i think someone who just dont like the car did it...but who ever did it..fuck them, and i hope you can get it all clean and nice lookin agian..good luck man.

Who the fuck could do something like that? Fucking ass clowns...
Fortunately, most of that will come off. The glass is easy (razor blade), trim is a bit more difficult (a little bit of brake fluid on a rag) and the paint...well, alot of time, maybe some wetsand action and a buffer with rubbing compound. Those wheels are going to be a bitch to clean.
I suggest a firearms purchase in your near future.
