Let me start this off with this.To those people with mods done to your car,i hope you have a nice "hook up" at one of the dealerships in the area.As most know my car's down for clutch/tranny reasons.Before going into the dealership,i removed my wga and dp,replaced vacuum hoses,put back on the stock exhaust and so on.Took it in,and wam...got a call today.The warranty is completely voided for "massive modification" done to the car.My fuck up,now it's my problem.:lol:..I can't bitch,I choose the route.But i'm just letting all the new guys with Srt-4's know,the dealership seriously isn't fucking around about modification issues,If you have any doubt,fix it yourself.
My to follow when i actually know what is wrong with the car.

Massive Mods huh. That just means prove them right by getting a big turbo.

What specific reason did they give?
They said "Massive modification".The car was stock when it went in,but had a Wga and dp on some time ago(it seems).
Did you have your upper heat shield on when you went in ?

What shop is it at? And what is it in for?
They said "Massive modification".The car was stock when it went in,but had a Wga and dp on some time ago(it seems).
They 'could tell' but I ask because a long long time ago, I had a boost surge problem they couldnt fix ( Jerry ulm).
They changed turbo, pcm and a bunch o shit. Well I filed lemon law and they sent a rep to fix it...it was a leak in the vacuum hose.( geen line) and they put on my paperwork, vehicle modified, any other modification form this date= voided warranty.
Vehicle was never modified though

Any marks on your Wastegate and Downpipe bolts that show off that they have been removed cause that's a dead giveaway.
Well, I'm glad skittle didnt try n pull a fast one, but proving that messing with DP = tranny issue = a hard case
Fast420A
07-30-2005, 03:13 AM
If the only other mod was the wastegate, they also have to prove that it somehow caused a tranny issue.

Yeah I've heard some other people on SRT forums talking about that. They say taht the dealership service writers are usually assholes and don't want to warranty shit but if you call dcx you are way better off b/c they actually want to help you, one guy is getting his warrantied b/c he called dcx.

+1 :lol:
Honestly,I can't really do anything,there was'nt really much to give away "prior modification".Heat shields were on and everything!!But i don't think it's anything i wanna fight,even though fixing this is going to be a very expensive experiment.Not gonna wine about something that's my fault.:dunno:.Last time it went in for warranty work(axles and so forth)..I had a smaller problem with them not wanting to do it,but they did because "they didnt want a Srt-4 to sit" because the damage was alot to fix. :lol:...Just looking out for all the noobs out and about doing the mod thing,If you cant afford to fix it,dont mod it.Point blank :wink:

Bro, Jamie. They have to PROOVE, by law, that any modification you did to the car CAUSED the issue that you're having in order not to warranty it. Get a lawyer. Tell the dealership you are getting a lawyer. They will warranty this, because they cannot prove that the car was modified, or that said mods caused the problems you are having. It's free to call a Lawyer and get a consult. Do it, and save yourself a LOT of time and money.

+1 same shit hppnd with me .....Unless they can prove that those mods were what caused your tranny failure they have to warrenty it by law....So go there tell them that if they wont budge get a lawyer and go to court......

What are racing aquaintences for? :p Good luck, and don't believe anything the dealer tells you. Be adamant about them PROVING that you or the mods were responsible for the damage. They cannot prove it. IE, you win.

It's called the Magnuson Moss Warranty act. Look it up, or better yet, tell them to look it up.

Here's a link for you.
http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/magnusonmoss.htm
Now are we sure the manual or warranty paperwork doesn't have anything in it about aftermarket parts voiding the warranty cause if it does then the magnuson-moss goes out the window for this situation. You can have the parts if they didn't cause the issue you had and they should have to replace it. You had less mods than a stage 2 mopar setup has since those say you should have a 3 inch exhaust and those are still supposed to be under warranty from what Bob Wilson dodge told me. Now what about motor mounts or suspension mods? And what issue have you already had replaced under warranty?
Skittle

mounts=stock
suspension=stock
The only thing done is a wga and downpipe...Gonna read up on this,thanks alot guys

Yea Skittle I would defiantly look into that. When in doubt get a lawyer lol. Or just take it to every dodge dealership around and try to get past it but If your car is broke down go the lawyer route.
I was thinking about this. I remember reading that if you put non emission legal items on your car that it throws a code in the pcm for an automatic tranny. It seems like chrysler put that there to tell if you are modifying your car. Not too sure what exactly you had done since I'm just getting back into fwd turbo cars, my last being a glh, i do know if you have a "buddy" at a dealership they can clear the code and your good to go. Like I said not sure if this relates to your situation or not.

You know that if you disconnect the battery for like 3 minutes it does the same thing.
