Take a look at this ECU and see if you can find anything wrong please.

There is no smell and Ive never been good at identifying electrical problems.

Most of the time you cant tell by looking at it, you just switch it out with another one and see if it works.....

probably bad caps

The thing with that is, I thought there would be a smell, or at least visible damage to the ciruit board.

Aaron all I can say is try swapping ecus and see what happens.

I see the problem. Its a Mitsubishi ECU. Those things came from the factory bad.

Swapping it out is definitely the way to go, just a side note..... A bad ecu, and or a bad maf sensor can give off seemingly similar drivability symptoms.

hmmm. Anybody with a 2g the runs nice near new tampa, bruce b downs? If you wouldn't mind I'ld like to try switching maf / ecu to see what the problem is. I'd rather not go buy shit if it's not broken ya know.

I don't see any signs of acid leakage under the caps, but who knows.

ive seen 3 bad dsm ecu's so far, with no cap leakage or burn spots... those are just the easy identifiers. Another idea, if you know someone who works at an Auto zone or an advance auto. They can order in a computer, and let you borrow it in the parking lot to test it to find out for sure if its the problem. Ive done that for a few customers, and a few friends sometimes its the only way.

Yeah the only problem with the ecu is that, the problem starts like after acouple days, so id like have to borrow somebodys ecu. I may want to just buy one anyway you know? They normally go bad like 7-8 years right? It's 8years old.

i think i might still have my stock ecu lying around, from when i swapped it for an eprom ecu......there was never nothing wrong with it, so i know its good....i'm in the process of moving now so i have boxes everywere, but i'l search around to see if i find it and you can hold it. it came of a 98 gst

usually if it is a ecu problem it will occur during the first 20 mins when the ecu starts getting hot. thats what happen to me. it would drive great for 20 mins when the ecu got hot it started acting up. but swap ecus and see what happens.
