Ok so I just happed to come across $700 and want to make some power but the question is what do I invest in that wont require a large amount of tunning? I dont have EM so my first idea was UTEC but I dunno...

How about a upgraded turbo ... ?

Currently have TBE, Boost Controller...

lemme know

you can get a UTEK on nabisco for 600-650.

i would get that and run the stage 1.5 map.

Wouldnt you need some fuel mods to run an upgraded turbo as well? At least a fuel pump and injectors. Unless you can find all of that used, idk if you can do a new turbo for only $700. Plus I would never run a new turbo with no EM. Get the UTEC. Or give me the $700. Your call.

Start with some form of EM. This should net you another 25whp with your current mods, while being safer than just a MBC. Then move onto turbo, injectors, intercooler, etc. I hope you have gotten rid of the catted uppipe as well.

you can run a bigger turbo ie vf 34 or 39 with stock fuel just dont run more than 16.5lbs. and that is running alot. 16lbs is max what i would run.

I agree with everything he just said.

There's always the Cobb AccessPort. Most websites [Gruppe-S, RallySportDirect, etc.] sell them new and shipped for $595. That can leave the rest of the cash that you have for either a lightweight crank pulley [non-underdriven preferrably] or some intercooler hoses.

With your turbo-back, you can have 225awhp/285hp at the crank. And, if you ever plan on doing VF34, injectors, pump, they have premade maps for that too.

A lot of people are happy with how simple this is to use, a little moe plug&play than other EM systems out there. Also, they have the StreeTuner which is a more comprehensive tuning tool to fine-tune for other mods down the road. And if you're not happy with the AccessPort after a while, you'll more than likely get most of your money back if you sell it.

Hope all this is decent food-for-thought...

Yes sir.

As mild as you keep your boost, I'd think that's just asking for grenading of motors.

I could be wrong, but I don't think its worth the risk. Plus, for the money you'll probably be spending, you're not getting the full potential of the upgraded turbo.

380 whp with STI injector can be done but in my opinion it is not a healthy tune.

sti injectors are a lot bigger than the wrx one's.

do you have a dyno graph and what EM do you have. if you have UTEK can you post a log?

Get a UTEC. I just had mine tuned today at CFT and I got 242awhp/228tq at 17 psi with only tbe, intake, uppipe, and of course UTEC.

I would get ecutek and then go from there, you need the ecutek anyway. Send your ECU to Kingpin or PDX Tuning, both are great tuners.
