View Full Version : BMW Brooksville Wrap-up
I had a great time. Was a great course just like last time. Was good to see Muddy and Chi Town. Good to meet Leonard. Last two runs were slightly interesting on a wet course... had a nice, complete 360... that made my day. Great day even though it was incredibly hot and I am severely de-hydrated and sunburned.

It was good meeting you as well. I'm thrilled with my last two runs. I'm finally starting to get a good feel for how to drive the car fast (rather than backwards). I wish I would have had one more run.... I think I could have hit a 1:04 or maybe even a 1:03.

what was your fastest time of the day? My 4th run (before the rain) Barry said I hit 1:05.5xx. It was a little damp through the first slalom and I was kind of all over the place. Definitely think the 5er had a 1:04 in her today... I just need to get some new tires... my current mis-matched tires are pretty bald.... as you could probably tell from my rain runs
Great day guys...real fun. Nice meeting you all and hopefully I'll see you guys at the next one.

last run was a 1:05.971 or somethign there abouts. Certainly not the fastest around, but.... a full three seconds faster than my previous best clean run. I treated the car a little differently on that pass and it responded REALLY well to it. Another pass and I think I could have pulled another two seconds off.

I was working at station 4 and Jamal and I both said something about it on your last run. You carried a lot more speed through the cross-over and braked later for the turnaround... you also looked like you were being alot more agressive through the slalom.
Great day guys...real fun. Nice meeting you all and hopefully I'll see you guys at the next one.
Twas a good one... don't think I actually met you but I'll catch you next go around... Next one should be in September.

Good seeing everyone! It sure was a HOT day! Did I mention that these 710s ROCK!!! I'll try to post a video later, I forgot to tape my fastest run though!

When I eventually get an extra set of rims 710s it will be... along with some carbotech brake pads... as impressive as your acceleration and turn in are... it is the brakes that really made my jaw drop. Thanks again for the ride.

It's a combo of good brakes and tires, extra wide and sticky! :D
Here's my last run (http://www.fastjam.com/autox/cca0705.wmv) (12 Megs) before it started pouring down... I have no idea what my time was on that run. Man I'm rusty!

Great event, I was overdriving the new car on a few of the runs, after smoothing it out a bit, ended up with a 1:11...... I know I hit 73mph  and could have pushed it deeper in that section. Think I still had more braking left than I gave it credit for
what speeds were you guys topping out on through that straight?
94ish indicated... i only looked down once.

I got near 80 in my Mazdaspeed Miata running stock boost. :D
I struggled to find the best settings for my coilovers, I hope to be faster next time. ;)

what speeds were you guys topping out on through that straight?
the one time i looked was 85 indicated.
I was in the white crx.
That was my first time out with the BMW group...Super fast course.
On the fifth run, my try to carry more speed out of the crossover was rewarded with a one-and-a-half loop spin after the next gate. After which, as I crossed the finish line, I was met by one of the main organizers of the event. Expecting critical comments, I was instead told to go back for a re-run due to timing light issues. :)

only my second autox, first was a couple years back with the bmw group at z hills...i had a great time, a lot of amazing cars out. really nice course, quite fast, unfortunately for me, i have a really slow honda civic..the red hatchback. but hey, the good news i guess is with only about 85hp and 70tq( and 1 extremely long tranny) and weighing only about 2100 lbs i managed my first run at 115.5xx to my last run at 112.9xx..i was keeping up with most the others in my class..so i was happy about that..i have a run of mine im going to post later..no fast, but fun to watch..great meeting the ppl there..everyone was real nice and supportive..ill be at the next, and hopefully quicker

Thanks to everyone for coming out and sharing in on the hard work and serious FUN.
We apologize for the computer problems and manual timing. Sometimes those things happen. The BMW club is more about having fun and teaching people performance driving than serious competition.
Because of the timing issues, we were not able to post results at the time. Look to the website for results - www.fscbmwcca.org for results.
It was a blast. A challenging fast and slow course - I don't think anyone nailed the finish section. Sometimes to be fast you must go slow.
Thanks for the rocket ship ride - Jamal - do not change a thing - just get to some more events and enjoy.
See you at the next event,

Keith: Any idea when the results will be posted?

Results have to be done by paper because of the computer problems.
Joe and Barry have control of the results and webpages.
Hopefully within a week or so.
See you August 13 + 14th for the SCCa event,

how can i describe how i feel yesterday's event went? yea my stress is gone and my body feels great ... :D thank you for putting on a great autox!
my best time fell way behind you guys as i only got down to a 1:16 but hey like i said my stress is GONE!
I have no clue how fast I was going on the straightaway but I know I hit my rev limiter
It was the first autox where I had to go thru my gears ... thank you ... it was great to have a different experience.
i got to meet a whole lot of people and that always makes the event even better.
great event thanks again for having it!

 This could turn into a nice little rivalry once you get your suspension all dialed in... IIRC you beat me the last go around.

All right.
Everyone go to their seperate corner, put on the gloves and come out fighting.
Remember I said that not all times are listed - UNOFFICIAL.
We have to wait for the real results to start with the challenges.
Good driving by everyone at the event.
Racing in the rain is great car control practice and easy on tires.
