Just bought a set of Volk ce28n...

I just ordered a set of Volk ce28n and I need some advice. The wheels are 18 X 8.5 and I need to know what size wheels you recommend. I have seen 225-45 with this size wheel but I think something along the line of 235-45 or 245-40 would be more appropriate.

Also the company that I am getting the wheels from offered a wheel and tire package including Nitto 555 tires. I don't think these are a bad tire but I don't want to get a new set of rims and at the same time have less grip than I had with my stock set up. Do you think this will be an issue and if so what type of sticky tire do you recommend in the sizes previously listed? For an example I was looking at something as sticky as Yokohama A048 tires.

Lastly this is my first mod to my car and I relize that I will need to lower the car a little to get rid of some of the wheel gap. I really want the Tein Flex with the EDFC but that is a little out of price range at the moment. I was looking for a temporary fix for this problem. I was thinking about ordering a set of Pink springs. Do you think that Pink springs would be a good set up with these wheels?

the nitto's arent a bad tire at all. they have some very good reviews. i wouldnt just pass them by if you can get them for a good deal with the package. i personally do like yokohama better though, just my preference. my next set will most likely be the parada 2. i dont think yokohama makes a bad tire though.

as far as the springs have you checked out the prodrives? installed a set not too long ago and they are a very nice choice. evened the fender gap up perfectly. the ride quality was very smooth and it handled just as good. might be a little more than just a temporary fix with these springs.

235x45x18 is what i would run, as we disscussed on SAt.

if you plan on getting coilovers dont waste money on springs. just live with the gap for a while and then get what you want. pre aproved *

a set of prodrive springs can always be resold no problem. gives you some time to get the money for a good set of coilovers if you decide you need them then sell the springs.

not going aggainst brew but 45's on an 18 look alittle big. i personally like the way 40's look the best. but i dont know how the roads are there either.

Just keep in mind that a 45 tire will be taller than it was stock. Stock tires on a 17x8 (in the case of an 05 STi) are 225/45. So going with that same basic size in an R18 will be taller. IMO a 40 would be better

duh i would go with 235x35x18 i was slippen. the 35 on 18's look sick. but you will have a lot more road noise. but if you listen to the radio you wont notice it.

Was over at Mastro this morning and checked out that ESX STi they had there. the tyres were 245/35 R18's... very sexy.

With a 235/45 series tire, the 45 means 45% of the 235 so it will be a tiny bit taller than the 225/45s. I have a set of 235/45s in my gagrage rigth now. ha
