He's just about the biggest fucking prick I have ever talked to in my life. I've never gotten such an attitude from someone working in supposed customer service. All i wanted was the price for a fog light but no....i had to give him my VIN number? and then when i asked he says, "I didn't make the software, that's how it is." Well that's weird....b/c that's only like the 100th time i've called mastro to either order a part or get a price for a part. Either they completely redid their software within the past 2 weeks or he's full of it. If anyone works at Mastro tell him he's a prick and shouldn't talk to customers...that's all....

Sorry to hear it. Just when I thought things where on the up swing. I wonder if Pete is aware of all this. I honestly don't believe he is about all that.

F*** that. Everytime I went there I never had to give my vin number. Ebay
Have any of you worked in customer service before? It can be a pain in the butt, exspecially when people complain about silly lil things. Like in this case, a VIN number. You should tip your hat to these men for getting the information that they need in order to get YOU THE CORRECT PART. Seriously, would you rather them ask more questions, or just walk in the back and say, "ahh this could be it"?
Not all parts are universal. We had to give the vin # back in va. Geesh it's a few letters and numbers, why are you guys ragging so much???

Yes, nothing ever stays the same. It's called life, you're in a world of change. They can't stay the same forever. MAYBE they are changing the way they do things to make it better for YOUR SERVICE.

I have never had them say anything to me about any vin numbers, but I have been given a hard time, many times.
Well when people talk bad about you, do you give them hard times?
What if you walk into a restaurant and you're bitchy with the waitress...she's goin to give you crappy service for being a prick

I still don't think there is a need to get the vin#'s. If I come in there asking for a I-badge for a 2002 Wrx sedan then will I need to give them a vin number. I know in fact the badge will fit. I think if you just tell them what year and model the car is they should have a good idea of the parts that are compatible. Or I least hope so.
Right, but if you take the old school RS's for instance. In 99 they changed the whole engine and drive line.
Think about this....How many subaru's go in there for parts? How many new subaru and parts are being made every year? They can't keep track of all this in their minds. They are human!
There are some non-enthusiast that go out and buy subaru's and infact don't know the year or model that they have.
Maybe their software is keeping track of this information. Of what parts are being bought for what subaru's. Have you ever used their software. Maybe they have a new procedure of doing things. That's why you never had to give the VIN number before.

he is the only one that asks for the VIN number. i have bought parts from all the different salesmen and he is the only one to ask for a VIN#. i needed a bov gasket and he couldnt help me because i didnt have my VIN#. i thought that was pathetic. the gasket is the same on all WRX's
Let's answer this question for everyone...
The easiest way for the parts lookup system to give a part number is based on a VIN. Since John is the Service Manager and NOT in the Parts Department he really has no idea what may or may not fit your car. So in order to get you the CORRECT part number he asked for the VIN and you call this bad customer service? He coulda told you to call back on Monday instead of even trying to help.
I even have the Subaru Parts Lookup Software here at home and can tell you it would take me much, much longer to look up parts without a VIN than with a VIN.
The more and more I read this board, the more I realize how many dumb fucks there really are in this world....
I have done business with them. No complaints here.
See it is the software, Thanks Opie!

Now that was un-called for. I run a retail location. I know from experience that if you treat a customer correctly, they will not go on some forum and talk bad about your business. Obviously Jon did something to piss some people off. On several occasions I went in there myself, and couldn't help feeling like I was being a bother to people that worked there.
These people that are complaining are spending money in your shop, paying YOUR salary, and you call them dumb F****? Thats poor taste. I was getting ready to spend some more money there within the next month, but now, FORGET ABOUT IT, and I'm sorry I have ever done business there in the first place. I first went to your place to buy my 03 wrx, they told me that 24,000 was the cheapest I could ever buy my wrx for. I wen't to fitzgerald and paid 22,100, and got more add-ons. I have never really had a great experience from your shop.

Its not just limited to this board. ;-)
...and thanks for being there when I needed a fender plug from a RS. Bill would of never found that one based on my VIN. :nworthy:

You guys are so ignorant. Asking for a bov gasket for a Wrx requires a vin#. You guys have lost all my business. So who's the dumb fuck now?

as much as i am not a big fan of mastro. fitzgerald does the same thing. i went to fitz to get a new inner fenderwell and they told me they needed a vin#. i think the vin #'s are kept for something. maybe for future warranty claims or whatever. that's the only thing i would really like to know: "IF" they are kept for some reason.

At first I had a great experience with mastro at first, Brian Buzek is the coolest suby owner and salesman I know. He was real cool, regardless if he sold me the car or not he was cool as shit. And then when ever I get my oil changed they are pretty nice but when it comes to the parts department they guy that wears glasses seems to be on his period everytime i ve been there. Yeah I dont f&%ing buy thousands of dollars of mods and shit but when I had a question he was rude as F&%k, so I waited until somebody else was there to get my BOV. If they want people to continue to buy parts from mastro they need to do something about it.

i dont think it was uncalled for at all.. the internet is full of people who only know 10% of the situation but have an opinion they claim as 100% fact... and TR is even worse than the rest of the internet at times.. case in point this thread.. it started out harmlessly enough.. someone venting about something and turned into shop bashing..
i hate shop bashers because 90% of the time its them.. NOT the shop.
I've never had a problem with Mastro .. infact i got my 2005 LGT for a price no one else in Tampa could begin to match.
Its 90% your attitude and 10% theirs.. they are in the business of selling cars and car parts.. they arent going to go out of their way to be a dick to you.. unless your being one first.
for every one or 2 of you idiots who come on here saying how much Mastro sucks they have a whole bunch of customers who are EXTREMELY satisfied .. even customers who come from out of state. Say what you will but being one of the top Subaru dealers in the state, and having customer loyalty like that speaks a billion times more than your crying and moaning.
I'm locking this thread because i hate threads bashing shops.. most of the times the people posting post incomplete and one sided accounts and the shops rarely get to respond and try to clear up the issue.
Mastros credentials are backed up by their customer loyalty and record as a honest fair dealership ..
