Default 2g DSM electrical problems?

Well, today I was replacing the battery terminals on my 2g.

All was well except for the fact that my brake lights were on. The headlights were not on, only the tail lamps. So I started pulling fuses to see where the problem was. I pulled all the tail lamp fuses and found that only when I pulled the Stop Lamp fuse did the brake lights finally go off. When I push on the brake pedal nothing happens to the lights (no intensification of the lights). So the lights are acting as if I am constantly brakeing.

Anybody experience this problem?

Please save me, once again, Mitsu Tech.

Thanks,
Aaron

swap the fuses of same size and see if that corrects it, that way you can isolate a bad fuse

Sounds like a bad ground or brake light switch behind the pedal....

What do you mean a bad ground? The terminals that i got don't ground the same way as the stock terminals did. There are 2 ground points on the car I guess that connect to the neg. terminal on the battery. The ground points WERE stacked ontop of each other on the stock terminal but when I installed the new terminal I changed it to different bolts.

That could be it?

Please HELP!

Its your brakelight switch stopper that went bad. The brakelight switch is a plunger which when depressed turns ur light on. Normally when ur brake pedal goes back up there is a plastic piece that presses the plunger in and deactivates your brakelight. That is the piece that fell out or cracked on your car. you can just get some door trim retainers or a bolt and nut and stick them in the hole behind the brakelight switch plunger. Thats all it takes. Lemme know how it goes

this happened to my clutch pedal..it took me like 2 hours to figure out why my car wouldnt start...i looked under the pedals and saw a mechanical switch behind the pedal and realized there was nothing but an empty hole behind it where the stopper used to be..i now have a a VERY small screw sitting in there...works like a charm...was a bitch to get it in though...not alot fo room behind those pedals
