according to a blurb on drifting.com forums live update, neither driver was listed as one of the 12 qualifying drivers from Friday. There were 20 other pre-qualified drivers to round out the group of 32.

Post 13....

I'll bet the previous day's troubles with the rig really killed morale.

CDL isnt required for our rig

so you can just stfu

cali hates these renegade rigs we drive, couple racing teams have been through it before. turns out we'll more than likely be getting a settlement from california for our troubles, as DOT was flat out wrong about what they did, and other teams have collected $$$ for it.

its a miracle we made it. we made the best of everything that happened and still had a good time. were on I-5 on our way home right now. a uhaul trailer is currently following the semi, along with a Frontier and a car dolly.

we appreciate everyones support, and we'll be in MUCH better shape for chicago...thats cake compared to what we've been through. hope to be home midweek...i miss my tampa nuccas.

oh yea?

YOUR WRONG

though i dont know the weight, i highlighted what i know WAS wrong.

Who Needs A CDL?

A commercial motor vehicle is a motor vehicle or combination of vehicles designed or used for either the transportation of persons for compensation or property and:

Has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more.
Tows any vehicle with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more.
Tows more than one vehicle or a trailer bus.
Has three or more axles (excludes three axle vehicles weighing 6,000 pounds or less gross).
Is any vehicle (bus, farm labor vehicle, general public paratransit vehicle, etc.) designed, used, or maintained to carry more than 10 passengers including the driver, for hire or profit, or is used by any nonprofit organization or group.
Transports hazardous materials requiring placarding.*
Transports hazardous wastes (Health and Safety Code §§25115 and 25117).*

but good luck with that lawsuit......

apart from the obvious drama that last comment is going to bring, I'm glad you guys at least made it out there. Bigger toys=bigger problems unfortunately. I'm sure you guys still looked great for all the stress and BS you had to go through to get there. You guys still kick ass. you'll do better next time! :)

Garage Battle

once again, you need to stfu

shut the fuck up

were not commercial, our vehicle is classified as an RV. california targets these things because they usually win, but they are actually doing it illegally on specific rigs (like ours) that have the government certificate allowing it to be an RV like ours is. ive become quite the expert on it in the last few days.

so as usual you need to stfu. no one cares, go back to taking pictures of us from the sidelines and stop trying to offer input on our situation.

so do u want me to STFU? sorry rob, i cant take many pics of you from the sidelines, bc u never get into the top 16 (which is where the good pics are taken)

it doesnt matter if your commercial or not, those are the size limitations/specs needed for a CDL in the wonderful state of CA.

was just trying to be helpful, so when you all go back out there for irwindale, the same shit doesnt happen unless u try to smuggle the cars in like a van full of mexicans.

i made top 16 in atlanta, happens to be the same event that no one wanted to let you stay in their hotel. get yourself a drivers armband and come play if you want to have lip about it, otherwise keep playing media boy.

but cdl refers to commercial vehicles, we are not. we are a recreational vehicle, or as california refers to it as a 'housecar', so there isnt the same weight classification as a commercial/cdl vehicle. i wont say we arent in a grey area, because we are. a team using the same setup got popped in california under the same BS, and surprise surprise, turns out california was wrong.

so when i say stfu i mean that in the nicest way, stfu. no one cares. get off the internet, get a car or two running.

Aren't you guys over on length as well though (thought I read it in this thread)? I know Cali has different requirements for lengths than many of the other states and the NHRA teams have to apply for special waivers when they tow into Cali. I'm sure you guys could do the same thing.

I'm wondering if the stipulation that you can't tow more than one vehicle refers to what's inside the trailer or that they don't allow piggyback trailers :dunno:

now, i understand the frustration... and maybe there is more to it, but seriously, just because you are in the position you are in, dont talk down to the lesser fortunate drivers. *especially of your home area. i dunno, call me old fashioned.

im sure ill catch some flames but who cares...

i understand your stance box, trust me im not talking down to talk down, you should know me well enough on that. mark took some really personal stabs at me on the board that were uncalled for, hence my negative attitude towards him publically. i dont like the guy, forgive me if i get tired of his negative attitude towards anything that i, matt, or enjuku does.

our potential budget for next season MIGHT include sponsorships for grassroots guys, also if they decide to run a 'minor leagues' version Formula D, we may be intersted in helping local drivers. this is only ideas at the moment, assuming we get a good amount of help from our sponsors for '06, but it is something we want to hold true to. im also working on a way to get some local guys more exposure, been talking to some of them recently.

But what you also have to understand, in the position that you are in, there is something called PUBLIC RELATIONS.

You have a good thing going for you, so be the bigger man and don't argue w/ those that are out to start shit.

It only makes both of you look stupid, and like an asshole.

Garage Battle
07-11-2005, 08:06 PM
that very well may be the case, and i wont argue with you on that. times come when you just get sick of hearing it from the same person. i try and keep a proper attitude for someone in my situation, but im not some superstar under a microscope, just a normal guy sick of hearing a petty mans rantings. maybe he is the way he is because no one checks him, i dunno.

ill end this here to be the bigger, thanks for pointing it out.
