Had some nasty horrible runs...good ole street tires 'n humidity.....

sr20de, avenir t25 setup with fmic, 9psi (stock boost on avenir turbo)

kills: modded new GTI 1.8T. ran a 13.9@102 to his 15.0.

my 60' times were shattastic.

STI: had me off the line, finally passed him in 3rd and put 3-4 cars on him. ran a 14.1 @ 102. that time.

my MPH was pretty consistent.....mostly 100-101mph and a couple at 102.

some new M3....had a dinan badge on the back. did a nasty burnout, beat him off the line and held about 1/2 car on him all the way. I think it might have been auto......but a kill is a kill.

I didn't race any cars that were faster, but then again that's luck of the staging, and I was there early right off work.

Got some mods a-waitin to go in, so that time should improve....but keepin the lil itty bitty t25.

You need to drop that t25, and go with eather a GTI-R t28 or something different but bigger t25's ive heard can be fun to drive for the insta spool. But definately not a drag racing turbo. Oh and good kills.

don't know yet. I'm guessing around 220 or so. Low end (1000-2500rpm) is kinda sluggish but once it slams to full 9psi it's pretty lively........and i haven't upped the boost yet :tard:

that's a good trap speed man. I figure once I ditch this restrictive JDM ecu (only 7100rpm redline, 115mph limiter!) I can squeeze out a couple more mph when revvin it higher to around 8000 or so.

gracias. I realized today my down pipe is 2.5" crush bent, and my exhaust is 3" crush bent. I figure i can get a couple more mph just from mandrel 3" !! lol.

you do understand what it takes to get a couple more mph...right?

and yours is the black b13 right? saw it as i was heading there...i want an sr20 in my damn b13 :(

chimmike

yah I do understand what it takes ;)

oh....and I'll be gettin this sucker into 12s with the t25. Just gimme some time :D oh and I won't need nitrous to do it either haha

im not sure you do though, your saying your going to pick up a couple mph from crush bent 3" to mandrel bent 3".

you should be running low 13's as the car sits honestly. just need some tire and work the suspension a bit.

i bet my stock sti will put a hurtin on your car!

chimmike
07-04-2005, 10:43 PM
it might be a bit closer than you think, looking at my trap speeds vs. yours.

as far as it being a low 13 second car now.......not quite. it's putting down maybe 220-230whp....Most of the other guys with setups like this run similar times with less trap.....S4 cams and 3" mandrel bent should net mid 13s, and that's at 9psi with similar 60ft times like I've been getting.

traction does wonderous things...102mph trap is good for mid/high 12's.

and im not sure what all you have done, if its a stock sr20det, or a conversion of a de, but i think 220whp maybe a tad high, 200 would be more realistic imo, an SR20DET with all the lil bolt ons and 15# would nip the 230 mark.

you don't deal with FWD SR20's much do you?

JDM DE=9.5:1 comp. Avenir turbo kit utilizing ball bearing t25 (avenir runs 9psi stock on the wg), no muff/rez, fmic w/ 2" hot, 2.5" cold piping, recirc'd greddy type s, avenir ecu (which uses the gtir MAF)......pretty much right around 220-230whp. If you don't believe me, please feel free to hit up www.sr20forum.com (http://www.sr20forum.com) and read away.

I've seen bluebird setups (using lower compression, of course) make 230whp with 10psi and a top mount and 2.5" turbo back w/ rez and muffler.

add in JWT S4 cams to my setup, which i've got in the corner here, at 9psi should net 250whp, and then upping boost to 12psi should see 270whp or so (it's been done before on an almost identical setup)

I don't think even with a 1.8 60ft that it'd be good for 12s........that and I like running on street tires. Ain't nobody drivin around daily on slicks waiting for races.

and yep, spec v hater/waster here :) Wasted a smartass in his brand new Spec today on the way to work.......he didn't even give me a glance after that whoopin.

well i just am dealing with what i know of first hand...a fully bolt on sr20 on 15psi only made 230...hell bretts after a tune made 250ish. and he wasnt running 9psi on his lil 25. if you have actual numbers of your car to show me then great, otherwise, im just guessing your getting that "feel good" sensation reading about what other guys may have done and what they may not have told about what they did. but no, i am not firmiliar with the GTI-r's...i know i would like to put the drivetrain into my daily..and i believe they use individual throttle bodies, but thats about the extent i really cared to know.

and i drive on slicks daily...so that proves your point..."ain't nobody drivin around on em daily."

well, everyone, including myself, thinks it has cams in it now. idles lopey, vac is a solid 15 or so vs 19-20 at idle with stock cams. Screams above 4000 to redline. Other SR owners think it has cams and some supra guys do......but the only person who could tell us for sure is the japanese guy who owned the engine who knows when. So the educated guess is about 220-230whp. Anyways it runs well, and it's my beater.

As for wanting the GTiR, the itb's are the last reason I'd want the engine for. How about 8.3:1 compression? (pistons are the same as the bluebird and avenir motors, though, the valve bowl is different.) piston oil squirters, larger oil and water passages, larger throttle body (if I'm not mistaken), mechanical valvetrain. Stock MAF (which is the same unit the avenir utilizes) is good for 350hp, of course the t28 stock, and the cast iron mani which flows exceptionally well for a stock manifold.

I'm content with it now...i'm sure i'll be damn happy wiht cams dialed in and boost upped a tad. After all, it's just a beater ;)

if you think it has cams, pop the valve cover off and look. there should be some sort of grind number, or marking somewhere on the shaft.

meh, the JWT S4 cams I have sittin here have no marks on 'em (they use Nissan billets). the S4s might go in this weekend and I'll use a dial caliper on the ones I yank out to see.

you're welcome to listen to it sometime before the S4's go in and see for yourself :)

good runs! buy my GT2540R turbo from me bolts right on for about 400hp then you can really hurt some feelings around here.
