i think this is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overdue in the florida area. so someone needs to get off their ass and get one going. ocala seems like the place to do it. we need prizes and TV camera's and magazine coverage, shit where's the Ladies man when you need him?

who would be the judges?
4 japanese guys with feathered blonde hair, and bizarre american pop culture references as nicknames? :dunno:

who would be the judges?
The people that are most qualified (Non drivers but know the slightest differences in drifting, or the track owner). Also, we need an announcer as everybody doesn't know everybody. Fuckin' A Bill great idea. Someone get this together.

it would only be worth it if we had like cameras in different positions throughout the track... and at the end making a optoin type video...

Myself and roomates actually have started a production company, We are based out of Mia, but would make a trip up for this if it gets going. We can film the event and put the video on DVD.

would definetly have to have class levels, as no one going to go out there and compete with the professional drivers ie matt and rob and those damn near close ie Mark, taylor, Bill, etc. etc.
ill be a judge as long as i can drink beer
cmon ive got a broken fucking wrist and my new car is all stock
if you dont let me judge im going to throw nails on the track
you guys all suck anyways

id definately consider bill a pro, just a pro without a sponsor
if i had to pick between drifting the event or being the announcer, id much rather be the announcer, i can probably even get some of my DJ gear to setup a PA with....

Have things really changed that much in less than a year? I posed this question sometime last year, and most ppl said florida didnt have enough talent yet for it to happen. Have things changed that much?

Alot of tracks have ban drifting in FL...auburndale, lakeland. I dont think theres any tracks in Tampa either. Ocala is our best hope at this moment. All yal know that this requires alot of fundings.
Get a poll started with some nominees and lets start voting. Remember, this isnt a popularity contest.

i really hate how evrything goes down n california:mad: .If we got sum things goin on im sure we could show them florida has it too.we dont always have to use tracks.Im sure there are huge open lots we could get things setup on.its usually the moneything to get it going is what the problem is.

Agree. Money talks. I dont know any drifter in FL or TR who has a major profession, not as in working at taco bell....a actual career.
I can see that this tread is swinging to about Cali drifters now. Do we need to figure out how they started it so we can copy cat them?
TheBurntDrifter
07-04-2005, 10:51 PM
not really to cali drifters but it kinda seems lik thats where evrything is at or evryone thinks thats where its all at.im waiting for next homestead event though to get in finally now i gota sr.i wish i could make drifting a career but lik evryone we all hav dreams.

what florida needs is a specifically built arena to witch we can take our sport too. i.e. and specifically desighned and built drift track.

Don't think that it's not on DGtrials' "Things to do 'Fo Real!" list.
I'm not saying that anything is or isn't going to happen (Kyle is #1 man for that), but we'd need to ensure that people would show up in enough force and numbers that a competition would be worth it. If you wanted it Option style, like with a practice/qualify session followed by top 16, 8, 4, 2 and final battle, that is one thing, tandem is probably beyond the restrictions of our insurance (as well as the equipment of the drivers - who all has Halon systems, cages and such?). To do a morning practice session followed by elimination, track time for the drivers who will be cut will be very limited. Additionally, if it were individual runs on a playoff-style setup (as would be most exciting for spectators and drivers), we can't have people whining that they didn't get as many runs as someone else or complaining about the judges or some crap like that.
If DG were to run something like this, judges would be no problem, and we could provide a PA and find an announcer.
Are you thinking prizes, or just bragging rights?
Once again, this isn't to say that DG is or isn't planning something, but merely just to further discuss the idea of a comp.

for announcer get Antonio, he was the one who announced the one here in the ter tech event and he has done some Formula D. announcing, setting up a comp. would be great to showcase the talent we have over here

I dont know what your career is. And Im talking about a major profession with high income like a few drifters in japan. Anyways that doesnt matter. That event in Orlando is Bullcrap. Go to the website it advertise, it doesnt work. Some kind of major event like this should be popular, it cant just appear out of nowhere without the support from the people. Its BS. Im going to Atlanta.
