I posted this also in the Ford section....

Well after finding out what happened to Vince's (Datruth) car I thinking about getting a bellhousing. But I found some tranny blankets. It's more of a weight issue than money. Now I know that the blankets are design to wrap around the tranny not the bellhousing but would it be ok incase of any breakage to the flywheel/clutch/input shaft if I wrap it around the belhousing? I checked and I don't technically need a any tranny safetly equipement until 11.49 or faster. Any thoughts? Thanks. -Mark

I too have seen those blankets and I am skeptical. It boggles my mind that a clutch and flywheel can tear through a bell housing and the chassis of the car itself but a blanket is supposed to contain it? But they are sfi approved or whatever so I guess its possible. Id be interested to see what you find out about this.
