You did hear correct, no top 16 for us this weekend.

I came in 19, matt came in 24. We worked very hard this weekend, doing i believe 4 total transmission uninstall/reinstall's with lots and lots of clutch work. I was a seeded driver for sat, matt had to qualify fri for saturday. On matts friday practice his clutch welded itself to the flywheel. we were able to get the car apart, the clutch separated, the flywheel reground to a flat surface, the clutch resurfaced, and the car back together in about 25 mins to get matt out to qualify for fri. He came in 5th out of 12 drivers...and he did awesome!!

In all honesty the course was rough, and with cement barriers on all sides, we can only go so hard at our current level. Many people wrecked this weekend, including Yoshie, Tony Angelo, Taka (twice actually, once he flipped on the side), Andy Yen, the babe blvd car, a skyline, and a few others. Course surface was segmented cement sections, and at times were not very level and caused different chasis reactions based on what specific line you took.

We've been spoiled on racing track surfaces, we've got more work to do. Sonoma coming up next, wish us luck!!!

hahaha, man, oh man that track was a blast!

Well, it was. it wasn't perfect, and it was difficult, but I loved it!
Entering super early, getting airborn over the bumps n the track, and managing to make it through the course rather nicely. While I was able to put together some really sharp runs, they weren't at a consistent level enough for me to advance. And i'm totally cool with that. I think i'm struggling a little bit too much with the car, and after talking with Rhys, JR, Ucchi, and a few of the other guys that know what they are doing, they agree that a few minor tweaks can make the car a little bit easier to drive on the edge. All this coupled with rob and i both having to step up to the best guys in the united states proves for some tough competition.
I have some videos, I hope to get them up for everyone sometime later tonight when we are back home.

All in all I had a blast, and I know what I need to work on to get farther ahead!

On matts friday practice his clutch welded itself to the flywheel.

Is this the same Spec 'ER2006 SUPER CUSTOM' clutch setup that you guys were hyping up in the Nissan section?

Yup! It is. There are a couple of different friction surfaces that you can go with. I went iwth a unit that could be slipped a ton or kicked a whole bunch, but it requires maintainence every couple of months. you need to sand it down, or scuff it up a bit, and then re install it. Keep in mind I haven't exactly been super nice to this clutch. doing numerous standing burnouts for everyone that wants to see red smoke, the maintaincne needed to be a little bit sooner.

yeah texas has a clay soil instead of a sand based soil like in FL. it shifts so fucking much. that track used to be flat at one point. how'd u like the bumpy ass highways because of the soil?? oh yeah... good luck to u guys at Sonoma!!
