I bought a Pioneer DEH-P8MP reciever yesterday and the Terk XMD1000 universal XM reciever with the smart digital adapter for Pioneer. Everything hooked up fine and worked like a champ. One of the best sounding recievers I've ever installed... Only problem is you cannot preset any XM chanels. FM presets work fine. %**^%#(&!!
I called Pioneer today and the first thing they asked is what kind of XM tuner I was using (I knew they would ask me that dammit). When I told them it was a Terk they told me there were issues with them and if I had used a Pioneer tuner it would have worked fine blah blah blah..... FWIW I could not find a Pioneer XM tuner box anywhere in town anyway.
Sooo... As directed by the oriental fellow at Pioneer I called Terk support. After 20+ minutes on hold I got a voice. I gave the guy the rundown of the problem I was having and was told it's a known problem and they are working on it. He indicated that it was a problem with the digital adapter, not the XM tuner or my reciever and they would call me with a resolution. He said they may have to replace the digital adapter with a new one or come up with some kinda workaround but had no definite answers for now. Jeez.
My question to any installers/techs is: Have you seen this issue before with the Terk tuner/digital adapters?? The Terk guy indicated they were getting a LOT of calls on this issue..
