Everything can always be improved.

Less angle and more speed = less manji down the straights = more badassness

Less manji down the straight isn't fun.

It depends on what you like.

Matt's style is what you see in that vid.

Super full lock + extreme angle + angry snap back transitioning into corners

Definately makes for some wicked in car vid since you're facing the a) wall or b) grass 90% of the time because of the stupid angle he puts on the car.

I think it's super fun to watch, but I also like seeing the finesse of less manji and longer, sweeping drifts making a track seem twice as wide as it really is.

Might be due to all the super technical tracks Matt's had so much practice on (Primus and Ocala).

Or not.

teddy

i first tried to link the entire right turn, right turn, right turn section with absolutely no manji

but however the turn is really narrow, i tried it numerous times and could not get it to link. i was just running out of speed, room, etc, could not keep the car on the track with that much speed. so i figured i would make the most of what i was able to do.

hope this helps

I agree with Teddy somewhat...maybe a faster, no-lift d1 style (ebrake) entry into the first turn would have given you a longer slide and made it easier to link those first two turns.

Damn, first of all, i love in car videos, they make it feel more like you are really there. second, you were getting some nice ass angle on every single corner, and even on the manji's in between corners. looked like you are really comfortable in that car...hard to believe thats the same car that everyone thought was totaled just a few months ago....

That's because it's not. Those vids are over 5 months old, and date back before the crash. And yes, the car was rebuilt in miraculous fashion by Collision Station. I think Matt and Rob would hit teh Beaver harder, now!

since then a lot has changed.

we fought all season with those cars, and finally got them dialed in. our biggest issues, and can be seen in that video:

1. too large a turbo/too laggy
2. large tires, soft sidewalls with not enough tire pressure.

the turbo issue was corrected prior to chicago, allowing matt to get his top16 finish. the tire pressure issues we hadnt researched till recently, when a small tire change made a world of a difference in how manuverable the rear of the car could be.

we're going to be experimenting over the next few weeks with higher rear pressure in the tires, with the ultimate goal being to turn our semi-exotic compound MX's into a more predictable and easier to drive setup. we've noticed that too much rear grip esentially pushes the car toward the infield on a turn (at osw for example). a little more R&D should provide awesome results. we shall see at the FL Drift practice in Jan.
