I can't speak for Saturday, but I'm sure the sentiment is the same. Auburndale presented some unique issues. From the get-go, it was obvious that the event was NOT organized, had no true 'direction', and was not set-up correctly for the type of driving we do. I posed some very pointed questions that I needed answered before this event would be accepted by me, and by others I am sure.

Matt stepped up. He made the call, and decided to take matters into his own hands. By doing this, lending his name to the event, it added credibility. Hell, even I showed up (friday). While this was Matt's first time hosting his 'own' event (and it had it's rough spots), everything turned out pretty good considering the challenges (lack of time to prepare, etc).

Could things of gone better? Absolutely.

The first thing that 'WE' (as a collective here) must recognize is that this was a 'Promoted' event, not a 'Sanctioned' event (and I use those terms loosely). A promoted event is an event in which $$$ comes first, and then everything else. A sanctioned event (in this aspect) is an event that drivers come first.

While many argue that DGTrials is expensive, it is a sanctioned event. Spectators are a bonus, but if they don't show up, so be it. Costs have already been covered so nobody is going to force the drivers to leave.

In a promoted event though, there are expectations. There are schedules, there is alot of $$$ involved, and goals that need to be met. Crowd attendance pay a huge roll in this. Did anybody notice the number of cops hanging around? @$20/hr...it ain't cheap. Let's not forget the cost of the lights running all night for just a few people, etc. Obviously, a promotor hopes to put on the best show they can, as they have a financial risk associated in the event also, but in the end...it is the $$$ that speaks, because if the numbers are dismal....the event can not continue as they must end early to re-coup there loses.

DGTrials once ran into this issue. Dec 2004 in Ocala. We had about 26 drivers, and not many spectators, but did Kyle close up shop early? Hell no.

Safety is #1, remember this. MAtt took a 'promoted' event and turned into a 'pseudo-sanctioned' event.

My hats off to Matt, Rob, Laurentz, Steve, Antlet, Sucio, and all those that helped to make this happen. No matter how much we bitch on TR, at the actaul event, we seemed like a close knit community (which I feel that we truly are).

So will I return to Auburndale? Only if Matt or Kyle hold the event.

So Matt....Thank You. We Love ya....and we know it was not your fault.

Honestly ---

I personally want to thank the drivers, for coming out, for listening to our skeleton crew, for dealing with the bs, for following our instructions and direction, and as a result we didn't have any accidents, and for a short time, we had some good track time as well.

things will get better, we won't deal with 'promoted' events anymore. I need to work with people or groups who are for the drivers, not for the bottom line. It may be more expensive, but I think it will be worth it for us in the end.

I want to start off by saying that from reading these forum I have seen nothing different between this forum and many others on many different forum sites. Everyone has their own opinion and relays it in their own way or relays what they think is true or have heard through the grapevine. I am not one to say yes I know everything about something if I don't. I would rather learn things first off. Team Enjuku coming in on this event was a good thing because I agree it would not have gone as well as it did. They ran their part well. I understand that there is a lot of safety issues involved with many things. Why is it that some people think that nobody is concerned about safety. None of the people that ask all these questions ever made an effort to contact anybody by phone. Not everyone reads these forums. I myself just started reading on here recently. So if they had been to the MSBA website, and they had questions, the question seems to be is why did those people not try to email, or call MSBA and ask those questions directly? I can not answer on that part. I would rather know and talk to someone rather than waiting for someone to read what I wrote on a website.
Yes this was a promoted event. BUT NOT PUT ON BY A PROMOTIONS COMPANY. It was done by individuals. The promotions done was to have a good turnout at the event. It was short notice I will agree. Promotion companies do go into something for a profit. This show was put on because we like this genre of automobile functions. I race on my own time, Jose races, Dave races, a lot of people race that were affiliated with this so how can you say that we are just in it for $$$. I would rather have a good event rather than make $$$. As far as the idea of drifting, Dave had talked to Jerry from Kumho Tires at the Street Warriorz event. He contacted him after that show and talked to him about doing a drift show and Jerry gave him Matt's number. That's how it all came about. Not by seeing G4tv. Like was said before this was a new thing and was not sanctioned so if there ever is another event, sanctioning will be in the mix as well. The thing about the tandem driving if you notice the whole thing about it was that the amatuer drivers were to be out on singles. It would have been nice if Rob and Matt did a tandem run but they didn't and that is fine. It was left up to Matt and Rob to run the drifting part and they ran it pretty much how they wanted to run it. All I have to say really is that if you want to talk about people that you do not know, at least confront that person first before conversing about him among others. Also if there is to be a ban stick swatted around, may it swat me as well because if it is that bad to where someone "new" can't come on here and talk without trying to be a super dick to everyone, then so be it. I can think of a few things better to be involved with.

I thought that enjuku did great with what we had as this was my first event, so I wasn't expecting everything, and I didn't really know what to expect. Everyone was nice and cool, I got to meet a lot of people and have fun too. Got plenty of seat time, because I stayed, and I thank matt and mike for letting me and my friend stay with you guys.

I think it would have turned out better if everyone would have showed up earlier on saturday, then maybe the event would have gone on longer and people would have gotten more seat time. However, I understand that many were mad about the day before and consequently didn't come because of it. Also there was short notice, and people have other things to do. Thanks for making the best of what you got, and nice meeting everyone.

Nova 66, could you post an e-mail address where I can contact you later? I'd prefer to have an intelligent conversation off of TR.

i thought the whole exsperience with the track and promotors sucked ass. they all had attitudes and were really disrespectfull. i think everyone and anyone who paid should get their money back!!! as none of it seemed to be casused by enjuku, but something needs to be done about the way things were handled by the track and promoter.

I think above all... Matt driving Taylor back to the shop was a very cool gesture. Taylor told me that and I was floored. Props Matt.
