Stock turbo
Stock boost
FMIC
Downpipe
Exhaust
VLSD
NO boost controller
Car runs 'strong!'
I was already planning on a 2way LSD...
so here is the question, if this was your car's setup,
What whp would you suggest for 'just drifting'? And how would you accomplish that HP the cheapest? and nothing ridiculous like 500whp. Nothing over 320whp.

What size tires do you drift on? 205? 225? I know those CP-R's are on the narrow side, but I don't think you use those for rears, do you? You don't need a ton of power. I would think mid to high 200's would be fine for a weekend drifter.
If you're running stock boost, you're missing out on 40-50 hp. Grab a boost controller and get your ECU tuned. That'll cost you less than $1000, and completely change your car.

Controller and rom tune, if you havent upped the boost, you arent even utilizing most of the stuff on that vehicle anyway.

What are the spring rates on your coilovers? Those are GAB units, right? Bumping up the spring rate with some drop-in Hyperco springs is only $60 a corner.

Charles
theres nothing really "wrong" with them. they are just not the greatest, and you cant get them serviced. so if you blow them, youre screwed.
some bad ass coilovers like some tanabe dd's, or cusco zero 2, or tein super drift would make the car better.
also, like epstein said, you could just do higher rates, but if the dampers arent valved for super high rates it might not be the best.
but going from like a 6/4 or whatever to one number higher would even show a difference.

not sure which gabs I have, but they aren't the 'bargain basement' ones. 16 way adjustable with helper springs....

power isnt really a concern of mine at all either though.

youre talking about "fixing" other things that arent broken.
just offering advice.
sorry i insulted your coilovers. : (
and if you really want more power, im sure you know what is needed.
but i would attack that cooling issue first.

Nismo, Kaaz, or Cusco. A TR member already has one that I may buy, I believe it was Nismo.

Ok, I've made 2 relevant posts already... lets try for the trifecta!
Stickers dood! How can you have white wheels with polished lip, a FMIC, and a Sylvia (sic) conversion without stickers? Stickers will enhance your drifting by disguising a bad run. People will be too busy trying to figure out what Yashio Factory or MCR part you have! Since you're not 16 anymore, it will give you that much needed street cred, too. Drifting isn't about driving, it's about rep-rah-zentin'!
Ok back to helpful. You don't have to blow your whole wad at once. Having a little more power and a mech diff will start to expose the flaws in your setup, wherever they are. You can't throw parts at a problem that you don't know you're having. Try and drive someone's car that has a mainstream setup (HE's, etc.) and see how it feels. You may like it, you may not. Not every drifter has a 9k/7k setup....

Wanna know problem number 1 with my car? Every event, I have run different tires....literally. That is my downfall. instead of keeping the tires consistent, and improving technique, I've instead been trying different tires, and ended up having to 're-learn' the car each time. That will come to an end. I felt so much better with the falken ze-512's that I may return to them after the Kumho asx's wear out...but once I decide, I'm gonna be sticking with the same tires and worring about other things.

also...to give a little more insight to the 'what's next' question...
I plan on spending $2k extra on the car (not including Tomei 2-way LSD that I am picking up this weekend).
So for $2k, I am wanting to 'maximize' my dollar. Currently under consideration:
Boost controller
Enthalpy tune
Sub frame bushings
Strut bars
Steering rack bushings
Engine/tranny mounts
Koyo radiator
also considering Nismo power brace.
Chances are, the car will only be driven at events and the occasional saturday night...so stuff like A/C, carpet, etc are no longer a concern. I don't plan on stripping the interior, but I'm gonna focus on things that will improve the car. I'd rather NOT spend $1500 on new coilovers if the ones I have are suffiecient. Considering the low miles that I would put on the car, they should last a long time.
ANd matt...plan on taking her for a spin tonight (with me as passenger). Tony Shultz already stated that the car is one of the few that 'scare him'<----NOT in a good way!....curious what you think.

Not to be negative, but if your picking up that Tomie from a certian someone on TR. I bet you $20.00 he flakes out.. I've been forwarned and personally delt with him. He's shady. Just FYI.

it's not a bad thing that you try new tires every time.
that is how you decide which ones are good and which ones suck.
you should actually try a vast array of tires (both sizes and compound) before you decide what type you car favors.

In my opinion the Koyo or another aluminum radiator should be at the top of your list.
