Went out to the drags again tonight. I do believe I'm getting the hang of this AWD thing :D
Some thing I've learned in the 14 runs I've done in my STi..... First, don't expect a decent time on your first or second run. I noticed that on the 3rd and fourth run, the car is a bit faster, over 1 second in my case. BUT, be sure and let the car cool down after four back-back runs! They don't like to be real hot and start acting very funny.
I have also better my launching quite a bit. I'm still inconsistent and shifts aren't as smooth as they could be. Well, without any furter adu, my times ;)
Ran twice without the board on so I don't know my times/mph. I'll start from when they were displaying times. No slips were given out so I don't know my 60', 1/8th, etc.
1) First run everything was cold and therefore did not have a good run. Launch was alright, but nothing special. I run a 14.66 @ 97mph.
2) Second was better, turbo and everything was beginning to get up to temperature. Ran a 13.81 @ 101mph.
3) 3rd was similar to second run. Ran a 13.60 @ 101mph
4) 4th run was my best of the night. eveything was up to good temps and my launching was improving. I ran a 13.48 @ 101.84 EDIT: also forgot to add that the clutch didn't fully grab until just before the 1-2 shift. Damn thing musta been toasty!
___________
Let the car cool down for about 20 minutes and then ran some more.
5) 5th run everything had cooled down so times went back up. Ran a 14.22 @ 98mph
6) Sixth run wasn't much better than the fourth because I flubbed the launch. Ran a 14.20 @ 99mph
7) Seventh run was looking better, but I was shifting too harsh. Ran a 13.69 @ 100.82
8) Last run of the night the guy controlling the tree was in a rush to get home and gave no time to ready one's self. Flubbed the launch big time and still ran a 13.82 @ 100.51mph
Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Went from a 15.11 down to a 13.48 without modifying the car, just my technique. I still think I can do better...........
ALSO also forgot.....all but one of my runs was against another Java Black Pearl '04 STi. All but one of those runs I got him by at least 2 car length. Last run I flubbed the launch... He jumped about 4 cars ahead, but by the end of the track I had it down to under one carlength. IIRC his best time was like a 14.2 .......
