seriously, seems like most of the people here are getting poopie times from their WRX/STis due to their launching techiques. i have helped a few friends learn to launch theirs, most recently my friend johnny, by showing him how to launch he went from a 15.2 to a 13.5 after he rode shotgun with me in his car.

how am i qualified? well, i ran a 14.2 in my 100% stock WRX, 13.5 with a EBC set 1 psi above stock and a downpipe, and a 12.5 with a small shot of nitrous on top of that. this was all done with a stock, unbroken tranny and stock clutch.

maybe sam could come to? and anyone else that is able to learn to launch another car good and be able to give people feedback on help.

id just like to see people happy with their cars and their times, being that launching is the key to a fast WRX

Isn't it pretty much:

5 grand

Lift foot from clutch at "stepped in dog shit" speed (not sidestepped) while mashing throttle.

Practice timing of clutch + gas.

???

With zero interest whatsoever in drag racing, I've never had anything slower than a 2.0 60' in all whopping 5 runs I have taken in my life. Best of 1.88 (mediocre!) on my 2nd run ever.

I agree, there are a lot of WRX owners who do not know how to launch even PASSABLY, let alone "kind of decent", and further let alone "good"

i wanted to help u out a track day but i didnt hear back that night

its easier to describe launching, but i think you really need to be next to someone while they do it

maybe if we can get enough interested we can get a track night?

I am definitely in! I do believe I've got the basics down...hell I've gone from a 15.11 to a 13.48 in two weeks! Same setup, same tune, just better launching.

the reason why is because the suby had a big boost leak at track day. my best trap was @95mph. it just died up top. i got the launch down somewhat but i need to perfect it. my best 60ft to date is 1.81. let me know mark, id rather do it out on the street one night so when i get to the track i already know what im doing.

Believe me, street and track are completely different. I'm not talking about surface texture or anything, I'm talking about at the track there are a lot more things you have to concentrate on and a lot more things that can throw off your concentration. Believe me, I know lol....

Id definitely be interested as long as its a few weeks down the road. I wanna get a few more miles on this thing before I start to really beat on it. But yeah street or strip works for me.

I agree 100%. I just dont think you can teach someone how to launch an AWD. The only way to learn is by trail and error IMO but im down for a track night meet anyway.
