This LAW did not get passed for the past 2 years for what ever reason. BUT I think it will this time with some minor changes. I for one will NOT be racing in any way shape or form, for fun with some one I do not know. Like @ a stop light with a stranger or what ever. BUT if it was a set up race for a TON of $$ than I would consider the race. Being that, most do not race from a dig nor do most race for $. Looks like I will be living @ the Track like most of us that enjoy the sport.
What ever you guys and girls want to do is up to you. I LOVE to street race. But do we really remember who had the fastest car 3 weeks ago? We all love the rush. But not if this LAW is to pass in October 2005. Jail sucks trust me.....
P.S.
Maybe we could just start running red lights for fun @ 45 mph. It's only a $65 infraction...... :wtf:

Damn that blows, I am in for the race on Sept. 30th lol.
How bout we run the red lights?, but last time I did that it was $80 and 3 points.
I wouldn't mind paying the money for something stupid and little, (not talking about the $300-500 tickets), but god damn points are where they get you.
At one point I had 28 points on my license, got suspended for a year and couldn't get insurance, FROM ANYONE!!
I hope people slow down racing, but we all know it won't happen.
Damn it I have to start working on slicks, tranny, and suspension for the track.
Why buy from you when I can just pick it up at the Police Auction cheap in a few months? :dunno: :D

State Representative John Quinones (R-Kissimmee) introduced the bill following drag racing accidents that claimed four lives last year.
There where more poeple killed from cell phone distracrion last year...still waiting for a law about those. It has been documented that talking on a phone while driving imprears your attention jsut as much asbeing drunk. WTF111.

i say if the cops want to stop street racing they should close down a road that has not been used or is no longer a safe road and the fix it up and turn it into a street drag event for everyone and at anytime and close to everyone so if u feel like racing go there and race and then thats it its settled but they wont do it cause they have to spend money but if they want safer(sp?) then it should be done

You've got tracks in St. Pete, Bradenton, Lakeland, etc, etc...if you want to race and not worry about the law, go there.
How dare the state expect you to show some self-control and self-restraint and abide by the laws.

anyone care to guess how many people were killed by ignorant old people not paying attention? I would guess its quite a bit higher.... :wtf:

And the federal government should give out free drugs to stop drug related crime.
The state should give away money to keep people from robbing people.
Speed limits should be abolished so that no one speeds.
Minimum age for drinking and smoking should be abolished to stop underage drinking and smoking.
Kids should not be required to attend school so that no one skips.
It's illegal, they don't have to do shit. They used to look the other way and allow street racing to occur in remote locations and on bridges in the early hours of the morning until it became the mainstream thing to do everywhere, anytime.................
We are some of the luckiest people in the state/country when it comes to drag racing, do you think other people have as many quality tracks within a reasonable driving distance? Oh, that's not good enough, they need to close off a street around the corner from my house and let me and my friends race there. Too bad, so sad. It's fucking over. Hope everyone's happy.

It sucks but that's what it is. Once a law is in place, they have no reason to repeal it. Done.

the law states that they can ONLY impound your car if the person being arrested is the owner of the vehicle. just keep your car in another persons name. A friend or relative.
c) "Racing" means the use of one or more motor vehicles in an attempt to outgain or, outdistance another motor vehicle, to or prevent another motor vehicle from passing, to arrive at a given destination ahead of another motor vehicle or motor vehicles, or to test the physical stamina or endurance of drivers over long-distance driving routes.
Hello, I'm calling in to report this soccer mom bitch in her SUv in the left lane that keeps speeding up so I can't pass her. I'm recording this incident on my cell phone. Please arrest and impound her SUV, or I'll call channel 8,10, and 13....oh wait...they'r eon your side too....oops

the thing about the street and the track is..
track - $$
street - FREE (minus the cost of tickets or bail money)
we spend a crap load of money to make our cars faster, just to pay to see if you can beat some guy? it's pretty crappy.. if it didn't cost $15 - $25 a time to race my car it wouldn't be so bad.. i mean i go every couple weeks or so but i would go more frequently if it didn't cost..

Yea maybe we should drink and drive instead shit we can do it 3 times before your a felon.... This court system really see's the light what a wonderful world of morons ...If they would maybe block off a non used road on sat nights in each city and block it off for racing and have all racers pay 5 bucks a night to some kind of fundraiser for umm lets say family's that had a death due to drunk drivers maybe they would get the drift!

State Representative John Quinones (R-Kissimmee) introduced the bill following drag racing accidents that claimed four lives last year.
Oh no, four deaths statewide in the course of a year. There were probably more deaths from shaving accidents than street racing and they're going to institute these absurdly harsh penalties. It's a witch hunt, plain and simple, a media darling used to upset the worthless old people that run this state because it was good for TV ratings. I'm waiting for the day when I get on the gas pulling out from a light and a cop decides that I am racing under the vague definition of the crime; when he confiscates my car leaving me to walk home- if he doesn't jail me... because that's the beauty of the freedom we enjoy in this land of the free and home of the overzealous legislature.

:nono:ya how dare the state pass laws making driving after just one drink illegal, yet collect millions in taxes from all the establisments that provide a place to drive to and consume alcohol.

Yup, this law is on the books and will never be taken off the books. I can't think of an argument for lowering the penalties for such an obviously risky and illegal act, unless they start caning people for it and we go for "cruel and unusual punishment".

for all you that think the law is not in affect your all wrong. i was charged with this very law 316.191 section 1 last december. its section 2 that wont come into affect later this year. i still have the ticket to prove this and all the attorney paperwork. i was facing 60 days in jail and 1 year suspended license. i got it dropped to a wreckless driving and only paid $250 fine and 4 points on license. the arresting officer does have the legal right to arrest you on the spot when he pulls you over for racing. i was lucky cause i was moving that day and had my entire car filled with my shit so the officer let me go on my on cognise.

ok, well yes the punishment is harsh, but hopefully this racing thing is cyclical, meaning after the prolly 5-10 yr period where people are paranoid, all the ricers are getting arrested itll settle down and go back to the orignal ways, but thats a optimistic point of view, my only complaint about these is how can you complain about that fatality rate when your governer instates a law where you can LEGALLY KILL a person or multiple people on your propert if you are "threatened" shit if there are no wittnesses, who knows if you were really threaten, or you just needed to test out your new assault rifle that good ol' g.w. allow to become legal again, hmm.... just my .02 though

Nah, running a red light is $95 I believe... I got a ticket for that a few
months back.
Im sure this thing can be fought out in the courts. It clearly stipulates that the law will violate due process for a period of 10 days when they impound your car. Now this goes against our constitutional right of due process NATIONWIDE, and guess whats more powerful between Federal and state.... That would be federal wise asses. Because of this one clause you have to eliminate the entire bill, you cannot ammend AFTER a bill has been passed. You have to work your way up all over again, and make it quite clear to your representative that you will be an unhappy constituent that wont be voting for that reprsentative should they vote in favor for the new one. With voter turnout so low every bit helps them and they know it. Even if this is lost in the Florida Supreme court you can take these fuckers all the way to the U.S Supreme court on a question of constitutionality and due process.
Anyway the point Im trying to bring up is if you on TR and Florida hate this damned law so much FIGHT IT! There have been many half-assed laws such as this that have been eliminated.
Wouldn't that be a slap in the face to all these lame, gray haired representatives who probably did race back in their day, to lose the law they believed would help get them a second term?
Quit fretting and worrying, take action.

Hey, Im just as sick as the rest of you with these stupid ass politicians trying to play themselves off as if they care about those 4 deaths. Dont get me wrong I feel bad for the families of course but 99% of "racers" aren't these douches that killed the people or anything like them.
More people die from DUI related incidents, so why is our penalty harsher?

when i was going to court for the racing ticket i saw DUI after DUI go in front of the judge. the biggest plenty i saw the different judges issue was 10 days in jail and some sort of help program AA etc.....
I'm Phucked
06-16-2005, 06:45 PM
The law is made by old people to oppress the young. With DUI the idiots are quietly trying to sneak home driving normal cars. Racing is usually loud and annoying to every person who is not interested.
Side example how many times have you been told to turn your music down by older people, compared to how many times did you get away with drinking alcohol or worse because you were quiet and out of sight?
Don't over-analyze or flame its just a quick thought about our judical system.
