They should of showed that off at DDay6! But I understand that they wanted to keep it under raps till Atlanta.

i know, it was like, ohh i can't say anything. shit they're not even going to release the tire to the public. i think its cool and all but i it was made out to be more than it is. it is a way to make your car stand out, but i'd rather do it with my driving then colored tire smoke.

dude... i wish they would make them for the public!!! tho it might be more of a signal flare for cops to find u racing tho if u had them on your car... so either Kumho is either looking out for us or just trying to make us mad that we cant have em

i dunno. i think its pretty awesome. i saw the tires at dday6 and wondered why they were so reddish looking. never would have thought that was the reason! whats really cool about it is that rice/poser drifters cant get them. and i expected nothing less of our boys... they can both drive and they are doing great. i cant imagine how well they will be doing after a year of driving those machines. good stuff team enjuku.

Are 12-packs of Haterade on sale or something? While colored smoke may be more of a novelty in professional drifting, I think it is badass that the giant company Kumho has worked with our local boys to create something the industry has never seen. This isn't meant to be a replacement for driving skill, it's a advertising tool. To draw attention. I'm pretty sure an S15 front end doesn't help them drift either, but does it look awesome? Yes.

This is a judged sport
This sport is scored on entry, drift, transition, style
Red Tire Smoke = Style
Announcer said, when Matt went out to debut the tire, that Tarzan went crazy.
2nd event for us, matt 17th, me 16th. Partied last night, hung over this morning. This is honestly an absolute blast. You think its not fun anymore, its not like friends having fun in a parking lot...you're dead wrong. This is an absolute blast, and 95% of the people are awesome!!! Like going to drift camp once a month. I am very, very proud to be part of my team and this series.

im tired of the fact tht noone can ever have anything nice to say. i thought it was awesome and so did the crowd. this whole weekend, all i heard from hating from so many people about other people.
i had a fucking blast! congrats to enjuku for doing so well!!
and i love the red tire smoke. if you actually UNDERSTAND the concept of drifitng, then you know its all about showing off and raising the bar up a step and doing what the last guy didnt.
oh and the tires are released to the public. Tire Rack has them. search manuf then size. retail on the sight is $2k a tire. gotta love having exclusive rights!! Enjuku has really turned into a group of badasses and im jealous i didnt go any further with this sport than i have.

The tires were a standout. Everybody in the crowd loved them. I saw Tarzan right after he first saw them....he was stunned. Granted, teh tires are stickier than the regular MX's, and you could tell that Matt was fighting them, but now that the secret's out, they'll get more seat time with them.
I even came up with the nickname !
'Red Smoke Tour 2005'
And Mike...always talkin shit. Stop benchdrifting. Hell.....I don't remember even seeing you in Atlanta....
Rock out with Cock Out Enjuku boys.....You have my support.

but i cant believe they didnt make it any better than 16...what the hell are the judges smoking?? -- Did you by chance see who they were competing against??
Atlanta was an awesommee show..team enjuku did great, and put on a good show, a lot of people did the same though, especially last night with Taka vs Sam...... tandem battle so close they had to do it 4 times.
I can't wait to see all of the pics.. and watch it on G4.
As Taylor said.. there was so much hating.. it was soo friggen annoying hearing all of these 16 year old bench drifters in front of us complaining about american muscle out there tearing it up, trying to get the crowd to chant "F*CK THE VIPER... F*CK THE VIPER" bleh..
Anyway, skill is a big part of it.. but putting on a show, getting the crowd to go wild (and the red smoke did it.. the judges were going nuts because it was something completely new) is the main ingredient.

The red tire smoke was a pretty cool sight to see. No one had it and it stood out!
As for Enjuku, honestly speaking, while at the local Florida D-Days, they stand out and are one of the best. At this particular event, it was clear that they had a hard time keeping up. I'd believe it's mostly due to the seat time on a track that they are capable to practice with speeds and space such as Road Atlanta.
Enjuku compared to the so called 'privateeries' were pretty head to head, but when up against the 'pros', they will need a little more practice.
Besides Calvin Wong (Falken G35) and at times the Pacific Rim s13 (not very consistant), I must say that the 'domestics' dominated the complete event.

Dude seriously. The El Camino was so fucking HAWT! It did suck though they placed rob up againist 1st place qualifer. It would have been awesome to at leave have seen him make the great 8.
congratulations matt and rob. obviously, the only way you guys are going is up and i know you guys will just get better. that red tire smoke wow i just went crazy when i saw the pics. i really wish i could have gone now, but i have to make my living :( keep up the good work guys, its the time of your lives so enjoy it.
you havnt won any events yet, but i can guarantee that judges, the competition, and fans are going to be talking about and will know who you are now more than ever. twin cars, twin outputs, 2 badass drivers, and their own special "flare". matt told me the new graphics and that this year enjuku would be on the map and i think you're definately succeeding at that.
too bad politics has to come into play.

Hmmmm...
out of 50 cars (30 unseated and 20 seated), Enjuku comes out #16 + #17 in there 2nd Event. That means 34 other drivers didn't do so well.....good way to start.
Let's look at it this way:
Top 16
>1 calvin wan
>2 rhys millen
>3 sam hubinette
>4 alex pheiffer
>5 jr gitten
>6 chris forsberg
>7 casper canul
>8 ken gushi
>9 seigo yamamoto
>10 mike peterson
>11 taka aono
>12 kenji namyaka
>13 dai
>14 ben schwartz
>15 tony angelo
>16 rob fleming
Only 2 of these drivers DID NOT compete in Formula D last year....Rob and Kenji. See...previous competition experience must help.

mike we are all allowed opinions, and lord know you are always willing to give yours, and i love you for that. but c'mon man... this was a nice thread. opinions can be given tactfully. "thats fucking gay" isnt somehting people that are proud of what they have shoudl hear. everyone is alwasy so negative lately.

I understand that and I see your side... How ever Im not the guy to tell people what they want to hear. I dont fluff, I don't kiss ass, I don't nut swing. If I like it I like it, if not its still MY opinion. If everyone went nuts for them and it got Enjuku more props so be it. Once again thats why there called ENJUKU DRIFTING and they're NOT my cars.. to each his/her own.
For real?

I'll tell you what... I was there first hand, and after seeing the crowd AND competitor reaction to Matt's first run on the red smoking tires I was speechless! The looks on the Falken and Yokohama team's faces were priceless! I should have taken a picture of that!
Straight up, Matt and Rob did very well and we should all be proud that a local EAST COAST team is doing so well! Over all I think that for their 2nd FD event they performed well. I look forward to seeing them in TX!
