If you do any sort of regular street driving, go with a posi. One time caught driving in the rain with a spool and you'll hate yourself for putting one in. If you do go spool, do the full deal, not a mini spool. Much much stronger

a posi allows the wheel to turn at diffrent speeds around corners, a spool does not. so i drive around corners on a daily basis dont get a posi

i agree w/ billy.
i wouldnt put a spool of any sort in a car that i plan to street-drive on a regular basis. however, if you want to make it a fair-weather, weekend cruiser and track car; you could probably pull it off... but again, your SOL if you get caught in one of the typical Florida flash-storms.
if you still want this to be like a Daily driver, or more than once a week-driver, do a clutch-pack posi/LSD. youll be able to take corners w/o having wheel hop and stressing your driveline. if you have the right rear end, you could always do a locker, like they use on offroad rigs. then you could switch between locked and open. im not sure how much power you could put thru a locker, but id assume quite a bit. those rockcrawling rigs take alot of abuse.

I have an Eaton posi in mine. If you do go w/ posi I would recommend one by Eaton because I believe the Auburns (sp) can not be rebuilt. Once they break thats it. The Eatons are rebuildable.

ok here's the difference. a spool is just a piece of steel. both tires aways turn at the same speed. that's why there so cheep.
a posi has clutch plates and other parts. they have to have the clutch plates replaced every so offen. but one tire will slip when going aound corners.
you got a ford 9 inch in that? go on ebay and get a posi and put new clutch plates in it. or go down to the junkyard and find a 9 inch posi with the gears you want and use the thridmember.

well, i guess everyone has explained what each does...
are you worried about wheel hop when going around turns or getting caught in the rain?
if its going to be a weekend thing or fairweather car, go ahead and get the spool. but, when using the car, just take precautions like you would when planning to take out a bike; check the weather and be cautious when operating it in inclement weather.

If cost really isn't a factor then I don't see why spools are still being discussed as an option.

Posi for the street .....I still go around turns yank the back tires when I hit 2nd going in a u turn. If you do a spool your tires will hate you lol....
