View Full Version : Two rules I think TR track day needs....

Since the reg. list fills up in about 30 seconds and only half the people that signed up, showed up ( not exsactly, but still ), I think the TR track event should be pre-pay only !!
I was VERY willing to pay to race. Very willing to show up at 4:00pm and race at 5:00pm, but I didn't even get my first run till 7:30pm or so. At that point I was happy to run, but still. I think its BS that people sign-up and never show up, when people like myself would have taken there place in a second...
The second suggestion is a little more cruel. No more 5000hp nitromethane drag cars !! 10.50 E.T. since this IS a street car event, the full blown race cars get plently of track time at about every event other than this one, and honestly I'm tired of waiting in the lanes b/c some RACE CAR hit the wall ( b/c the track is a little dirty b/c we drive street cars ) or b/c a race car tried to run 8.9999 instead of 9.0 and broke something, but that's just me...
I didn't like driving through the water box either, but I guess the track staff had a good reason for that... I guess....

1. It's a RACE TRACK, it's where RACE CARS go to RACE.. there is no mention that this is a street car only event, it's a whomever pays to run event.. If you want a street car event, run 1320, race cars are not allowed to run there (nor would they want to).
- here's a tissue
2. for the most part, anyone with a decently powered vehicle is going to only make 3-4 runs MAX.. while a large number of street cars are making twice that in the # of runs...
3. if you don't like 1 or 2, put up the money yourself and invite whomever you want. I don't think it's any more than $3500 to rent the track...
respectfully - a former race car owner...

I like seeing the full drag cars run down the track.....It would get kinda boring with just street cars running all night....Plus if they break ohh well its part of going to the track.Ive been going/running at the tracks for years and this happens alot.....So get used to it or dont go;)

I don't think any of the big cars broke anyway. The nova had a fire, but it didn't really mess up the track. Usually it's the smaller cars running slicks on shit axles and breaking. I run low 9's and will be in the high 8's with some new plugs and gas. I drive my car on the street quite a bit, just because of the time I run I don't have a "street car" :wtf: There will be plenty of street cars in the 9's very soon once they get the bugs worked out. Sounds like you have little man syndrome.

Prepay will be an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE for TR staff.
ABSOLUTE.
NIGHTMARE.
Maybe a mass-emailing should go out a random number of days before the announcement/registration of the upcoming event to let people know that if they care, they better be on their toes.

Here is an idea, make the preregistration list...except make it so that anyone who plans on running there vehicle needs to be to the track by the time alotted(gate opens at 4 give until 5:30) if youre not there by 5:30 and you have not contacted one of the hosts then your spot will be given to someone who is there waiting to run...
As for the race cars...i would much rather run behind two 1200+hp cars than run behind two 16 second cars, atleast i will know if the track will hook following the 1200+hp cars....
As for the "street car" debate...that is a never ending battle with some of the HOMOs around here...if it has all the shit required to be street driven and you cannot be ticketed for anything then that is a street car....hell look at Jerry's car...9's and everyone says its a street car  but yet they all say that your car isnt(67chevelleSS) if that is a street car and 67ChevelleSS's isnt then my shit must be BONE STOCK!

i like that idea z06 killa, Make them be there by 530 or somthing. I think that we should do just a few less cars, for when somthing happens like last night, there will be a recovery... but its not that big of a deal, i had a fun night.

I'm just saying "race cars" basiclly own the track events for 6 weeks, then TR does an event for "street cars", I just think one event out of 2months of race car events isn't asking too much. I've gone on Saturdays and watched race cars do John force burn-outs and still get twice as many runs as me. Wheither its a slow honda or not, from start to finish a street car gets on the track and down the track faster generally.
10.5 was a little too slow, the camaro was bad ass ( not sure how "streetable" it is ), but either way, I really liked it !!! But the 50's corvette that wrecked last time ( or sometime, I'm pretty sure I've seen it hit the wall ) and looked to wreck last night is what I'm talking about, why can't those cars stick to wrecking on Sat. morning and wasting those guys track time...
If your there to see super fast cars, just goto FFW or Gator-nationals, I don't come to watch...
But I guess you guys are right, I should just be happy to get some track time, but I really think the race cars could come on a better day... If I was driving a race car, no way I would want to follow street cars...
I can't see what would be so hard about the pre-pay system... You pay, you come in at 4pm run at 5pm, you try to sign-up and don't prepay, you wait till 7:30 like eveyone else that "thinks they can MAYBE make it"...
What was deal with being forced to drive through the water box ?

Your the only homo around here to make a comment like this about my car. My car has 15,000 miles on the street from the time it was built. Less than 5 miles at the track. Full interior, a/c, p/s, radial tires, 93 octane. Always driven to the track always driven home. Not really a single compromise on my car that would classify it as a race car.
I guess the comment comes from the fact your extra four cylinders on race gas aint doing a whole lot to keep up with the little yellow beast.

Z06 Killa, you cant be seriouse about jerry's car not being a street car. The thing is is daily driver, he goes everywhere in it.

Again you are a moron. The 56 Vette is my dad's car which he has never wrecked....Ever. He didn't have any problems with his car at all other than blowing the tires off from the track going away, and he still got off the track quicker than you finishing your whole run. I can understand if it's a pro-mod car. Even then, what is there 5-6 big cars out there?? How long could they possibly take to get down the track??
Other than the Nova having a fire, which didn't mess up the track at all...The only cars that did mess up the track were "street cars."

Fine you guys are right, running 7 second cars behind leaking, dripping street cars is a good combo.... I guess I'm a moron ( but I still like the camaro, even if you can't just say " I disagree" ). The vette was blowing the tires off for sure, prob. due to the "less than 7 second" track conditions, which is what I'm getting at....
#1 Joe Blow/ payed
#2 Timmy SouthPark/ payment pending
#3 Duffy Suffy/ payment pending
#4 TTAWD3S / payed
Looks pretty simple to me.... The track day is posted about a month before it happens, and the list fills up in 2 days, so people basiclly have a month to make the payment of a whopping $25....
And yes, I am pissed b/c I missed pre-reg. but its not my fault that 40 people out of 110 signed up and didn't show up...

05-02-2005, 02:19 PM
I only called you a moron because of the comments you made about the big cars messing up the track. I agree sometimes it's not safe to run them depending on track conditions, but thats up to the driver, and hopefully he/she is smart enough to get out of it before they wreck. Something does need to be done differently for registration part, but it also doesn't need to be a pain in the ass for Scott or BMP. I think to pre-pay makes the most sense and you don't get on the list until he has the money. I'm sure we'll figure something out, but I don't think it should matter what kind of car you have. My car would not hook up at the end of the night, and I didn't get pissed, I just called it a night...I still had a good time.

I like the idea of being to the track early if you're on the pre-reg list. If the person doesn't show or make contact before a certain time give up their spot to someone at BMP who is ready to race.

who the fuck said i was on race gas? i run 93 in my car as well, i could drive it to the track with tha A/C on, powersteering, factory ABS Brakes if i wanted to, but you know what? i dont want to wait 3+ hours for a tow truck, if my shit brakes i can take it home...
There is no need for you to get all butt hurt because i used your car as an example....I wasnt putting your car down in anyway, i know its a street car, it is 100% street legal, i was using yours as an example not an insult. RANT / NEWS FLASH: Roll Bar/Cage is a safety item that is required for the quicker cars...if its quicker than 11.49 it should have a roll bar/cage, safety regs are there because at some point in time somone was either mangled or killed because there was no regulation on safety.

As for the prepay issue, Scott will have to chime in on as he's the one that's handled it before.. On top of everything else that he does to get the event going, I don't think handling money is an item that he wants to add to his list of responsibilities. How's this, the race cars will stick to wrecking on Thursday or Saturday TnT if you stick to running 1320.. fair?
-here's another tissue...
Scott
05-02-2005, 11:34 PM
Yes the pre-pay is a big pain in my ass, I did it on about 5-6 of the other events. But when people have to pre-pay they get their shit in order and show instead of throwing there name of the list and hoping for the best. Pre-pay events have about a 5% no show vs. the current system of no pre pay (which was the tracks idea to drop it) and we get about 25% no show on average. This time we had 40% no shows on the pre=paid list, that is unfair to others that want to race and could not get on the list in time, unfair to me on many fronts, and unfair to the spectators that are looking for a lot of cars right away vs. people tricling in since they have not paid already.
Bottom line, when the pre-pay is in effect people show early and we eliminate almost all of the other problems. Plus it keeps the shitbox cars to a minimum for some amazing reason.

+1 Im agreeing 100 % with your reply to this stupid thread. I myself a honda owner enjoyed watching the 56 vette, the mustangs .....go down the track way more then 90% of the imports.which only about a handfull were worth watching anyways. That's exactly the way they've been doing it for the last few track events. Preregistration then pay at the track. It has resulted in the problems outlined in this thread. The other way you could take that is that you're suggesting that they do away with preregistration and go for first-come-first-served. I think they want to keep preregistration in place.
