gonna try to make an enclosure for 2 8" sony explods i have laying around. maybe for one 10". dunno. (don`t laugh, i had the 8"s custom fit in some cheap ass wal-mart tubes and they sounded great in my taco). anyways, i have a compartment area in the back of my 84 z. i want to use the fiberboard that makes up the compartment and add fiberglass to thicken it up, to keep it from flexing. how thick whould i need to go with it if it was just fiberglass? (the top part may all be fiberglass so i can make the custom speaker mounts.) and suggestions or websites?

there is no uniform thickness..its all about the shape and type etc. Just go till it dont flex

i have seen in audio mags where they use some thick stuff...polyester cloth or matte, something like that. know what i`m talking about? or should i stick with the fiberglass...

quoted for truth.

I have this stuff, called fiberglass filler. its like 1/16th thick or something, and you use it in a big flat spot, and glass around it. it takes the place of about 4 layers. But in the time it takes to work one thick as piece thru, which has to be saturated, you could have just as easily taken 5 or 6 large squares of regular glass and put them in the same spot.

It will all have to get to the same end result, a rigid box.

Fleece blanket works well too. For Sony Xplod 8's I wouldn't think you'd need more than a couple layers.
