Don't bother with intake/exhuast, any of that.

Save your money and swap in the 4EFTE engine from the JDM Starlet Turbo.

It's a 1.3 turbo motor, about 135 hp from the factory. They can easily be built to support more power.
Swapped Tercels I believe usually run high 12's in the 1/4 mile with around 200 hp.

Strange.... When I was in ireland, there was a 290whp starlet there that was barely pulling down 13's at all.. it was 13.7 i believe...

I suppose that swap is the best thing you can do to a tercel...

Personally I'd not even mess with the tercel and save for a better platform to start on.

I'm not sure what's up with that. The Tercel/Starlet weigh aroung 2000 pounds. Anything with 290 whp/2000 pounds should be much quicker than a 13.7.

Traction is an issue here. Theres just no weight to the package to get power down from the front wheels. Wheelhop is a massive issue with the way the tercel/starlet suspension is designed. Modding the engine is just the start of a massive workover the car needs to compete at any level.

I dunno, something tells me the money can be better spent elsewhere. There are lots of other things you can do with the 6-10 grand you could easilly spend getting a tercel into the 12's.

So I Should Just Stick To The Ae86

ae86 are nothing but problems. really! The only reason they matter at all is because they are rwd.

I'd say go for the 4efte.

Well if you don't go with a 4efte see if you can drop a 3s. You would have to do alot of custom work especially on the mounts. 1/4 mile times really vary depending on location and weather. personally i would invest my money into a 86. Trust me theres not much to do with a fast fwd car other then just haulin ass.

I still think a 4efte swap is a very viable option for a quick car. I have seen many quick starlet's and tercels with this swap...
