Since my 2 has been sitting around waiting for my XAT visit tomorrow, I managed to find something to do.... Stereo install!

I got (2) Alpine-V AMPS and two MTX 10" Subs in a Q-Logic triangle box. I placed them behind each seat and although it sounds good, I cant move my seat back enough anymore. The box is tall enough that it prevents me from laying my seat back.

Since I'm Puerto Rican, I like to lounge in my car like I'm laying in a hammock and I simply cant do that with this setup! (By the way, Im not tall 5'11")

Has anyone tried one of those bass tubes? Does it sound good?

Bazooka tubes sound pretty nice for the little space they take up. I've owned 2 10" tubes and I was very happy with them. My friend has some in his VR4 and it sounds extremely nice.

Best setup for an mr2 that ive seen is a slim 10 behind the passenger seat.. that way. A big guy like me can still lounge (6'4") and the passenger isnt very limited because he can move the seat forewards and then tilt the back backwards to get a "lounge".

I rode in the pass seat of that mr2 to SE2002 a few years back. It was fine, and the bass was rockin me to sleep lol.

Looks like I need a custom box or a bass tube. Anyone have anything I can use so we can trade?

Also love doctor, you may try putting a 12 in the NOSE of the car..... I've seen that work pretty well, cept feeling the pedals vibrate is a little wierd at first.

Find out how much space you have to work with.. I have 2 small boxes that hold 10"s.. you can have them if they work for you.. I used them in my 99 silverado and it slid perfect under the rear seat

Cool dude!

Let me check the dimensions tonight when I get home... I will be in Tampa tomorrow with the 2, maybe well talk then.

If it doesnt work out, I'd be interested in the base tube gimmick.

If you cut out the rear compartments, that will leave plenty of space for a 10" sub in a box behind each seat, and the seats should still fuflly recline.

Im not much into subs or anything but when i bought my second mr2 it came with a 10" sub and box in it behind the pass seat. It hit pretty hard, and due to the small size of the mr2's interior it really made a lot of bass, almost like making the cabin a box or something, lol. But anyway, why not just give a single 10 a chance behind the pass seat? Like get a really good 10" with the money it would have cost to buy two of them?

I now this dosn't have anything to do with this, but did you gotime242 get your car running yet. I'm the guy that's got your vid of you beating the viper. I just got a t3/t4,turbo manifold, down pipe and exhaust. I'm still looking for 550cc supra injectors and fuel pump.

1st... Big Ups to Supra Kid for the hook up! Good lookin out bro!

Unfortunately, the MTX and the Alpine E 10" speakers did not fit into the smaller box.

The 10" Earthquake (Blown) speakers the smaller box came with had a big magnet taking up space horizontal. My 10” speakers have a big magnet as well, but it takes space vertically. So what’s happening is that the speaker hits the back of the smaller box, therefore I can’t screw either of these subs to the box.

The box is a perfect size for the back, cause I can lay down like a hammock with no prob. I just need to find new speakers that will fit. I will go to circuit city to take a look at the magnet position of the 10” they have.

In the meantime, I’m selling my new 10”s mentioned above. Any offers welcome. :)

the previous owner of my car had a 10inch sub in the passenger seat

i really hated it, because the bass was going into one ear, not both, and it really bothered me

I dunno, my experiences with the 10 behind the passenger seat have been great. but then again, maybe you play bass enough to where it isnt a vibration, but actually a "sound".. I dunno, I dont like super hard hitting bass, and this Pioneer IMPP 10" was plenty.

it was a kenwood "1000" watt amp with a kenwood tornado. i ended up selling it because it was bothersome

i just ordered some pyramid 5 1/4 on ebay for about 15 bucks, gonna see how that does. the car already sounds better since i put in the kappa 4" in the rear
