I have a Sony CDX-5510 head unit and i recently bought an ipod, instead of buying one of those FM transmitters i opted to buy a AV to 2.5mm cord from circuit city(a lot cheaper). However on the back of the head unit there is front, back, and bus out. I think i know what i need i just refuse to accept the fact that i need a whole new head unit just for the AUX Out setting.

In the manual it says this AUX out is a "optional", i don't recall having options when i purchased the damn thing!

My ? is do i need a new unit or should i buy a FM transmitter to play my iPod through my cars system? (thank you for reading my rambling)

If you have no AUX in, you wont be able to use the adapter. Is there a cd changer adappter for the ipod?

but if you do decided to buy a new head unit, they have ones with an IPOD in, controllable by the head unit, instead of having to fuck with somethign else while driving.

I'd personally just get an FM modulator, although you're not going to have digital quality sound...it will atleast save you from having to replace your entire deck just for an ipod.

you could use an rca to 1/8" cable from the bus audio *in on the back of the radio to the ipod. dont use anything rf modulated if you want the best sound. they now make ipod adapters for certain radios too(kinda like 93ex is talking about the ipod in). the advantage to rf modulated or even the aux. input hookup is that it will charge your ipod and display it on the screen of the radio (and I think you can control the ipod from the radio)

Just go buy a shiney new Pioneer head unit with AUX In and quit your bitchin'. Trust me, you won't regret it.
