You might want to contact XAT racing, they could do a 3sgte swap to your car and you'd end up ahead of what the 5sfe would provide.
the 3s-gte oil pan, manifold, turbo/o2 assembly bolts on to the 5s-fe motor.
but, you'll still have to figure out fuel/ign management, and supporting equipment such as exhaust, oil lines (easy area to tap, easy return with the 3s oil pan), and intercooling/intake piping.
the 5s-fe wont handle much though. it would be fun but a 3s-gte swap like slash said is a better investment if you're going for an end result of alot of power.

Not even for a lot of power, just for relibility's sake..
Of course the 3s is like 10 million x more suited for power :)

Anyways. You can pick up a Gen 2 3SGTE with low mileage for around 2k so why bother turboing the 5SFE. I mean it can be done, but it is a waste of money and time. The 5SFE has a head built for fuel economy.

Back in the day (say 1998 ) I put a Turbo on my MR2 5FSE 2.2 Engine. Not much was known about this then, but after I went through the trouble of messing with this idea... here is what I found.
The most I got out of it was 14 sec 1/4.
(I cut the cat off my manifold and replaced it with a Mitsu turbo and added a Mitsu Intercooler, everything else was stock... other than the basics like exhaust, intake and Red line fluids)
What was neat is that I could actually rev boost, so my launches were bad a$$. (Never did figure out exactly why it would do that?)
In the 1/8 mile, its was worth it, but weak in the 1/4 mile.
CONCLUSION: Racing light to like was sooo fun cause it was very quick, too bad it wasn't fast...
Go with a 3SGTE (Although I'm still a rookie in this arena) ;-)
PEACE-

I've been in mr2drivers car launching under positive pressure. Most cars all you need to do to get the turbine spinning a bit is give it 2-3 sharp WOT stabs about 2 seconds before the light goes green, the bov opens and you stay spun up pretty well.
With most small turbines though you just dont need the boost since the spool on the stock ct isnt bad, and the 3rd gen CT is perfect..

no what you need to do is put the 3sgte head on the 5sfe block....that's a monster.....

Expensive + playing with fire + not reliable = monster, but not in a good way.
This has worked before, but dont bother to ask TecMr2 what is bill was after the conversion...

I say go with the 3s, definately worth it. Let me know what you do with your old 5s block when you swap it.

expensive yes....reliable is a matter of tuning and who is working on it.....monster on the street....we got quite a few of these setups running around in celicas and mr2s in west palm...

Lets just say this... Given that this kid has 4 posts... Types in all caps.. and dosent care to spell, I'm guessing hes NOT a guy with a big pocketbook, lots of tuning knowledge, or familarity with the MR2/celica of any engine. So...... I dont think he's the guy to be practicting with the 5sfe. If the 5sfe was really that much EASIER or CHEAPER than the 3s, then there would be LOTS more 5s's out there.
With the general public, the Keep it Simple Stupid rule is always a good idea. I hate to be a hater, but TR is a place where people have to prove themselves.
I'm just giving the kid an option where he can slap down his pocket book, drop the car off somewhere and have it return ready to drive... Its a "set-it-and-forget-it" way to get happiness fast, with minimal losses.

Post updated since u posted that last.
I'm sorry I dont mean to hate on the newbies like that. We want them here for sure so they can learn to be badass people who do new things eventually. But starting off with frankenstien motors (block and heads not from the same parent motor) is a bit steep for most people. Then they come back here in the forum telling all of us off since we suggested it, I dont like screwing people that way, everyone loses.
