New to gm

I was thinking about getting a 00-02 ls1 fbody. I do not want to get 98-99 due to piston slap issues. Anyway I wanted to go with heads & cam , an auto with a 3200 stall (TCI?) some LCA's ,SFC ,fast intake ,ported TB, lid. longtubes (qtp's?) and dumps? I am also interested in spraying the car with a 125 shot. What are your thoughts? ls1 powah :nworthy:

ge an 01+ more hp outta the box and no EGR. Also I do believe the 01 and 02 had piston slap too. :D

I would not worry about that at all. I have almost 130k on my daily driver 98 and it runs like a champ!

Same here, '98 SS with almost 90K miles and there isn't a bit of internal sounds or trouble ... The only issues I've had are identical parts as any newer ones ... Water Pump, Differential, etc.

And .. they're cheaper than the 00-02 :wiggle:

It's the upper end of the two types that they have, I ordered one myself for the drivers side and it works great. They offer 2 different types but the other is an import that is cheaper. A friend ordered that one and the cutoff didn't work properly and cracked the inside of the door ...

#1...buy a rear end! (go with like a 3.55 gear and locker, 35+ spline axles w/ ARP extended studs) do LCA relocation brackets etc at this time too!
#2 15x8 draglites/prostars/etc w/ 28x9x15 ET Drags
#3 TH400 w/ 3500-4000 stall (tall tire and gear sorta help highway cruising)
#4 torque arm
#5 SFC's
#6 DSL
#7 nice driveshaft

(i doubt ANYONE will say do those mods 1st, but if i ever get another fbody, unless its an m6 i will put a th400 in it, you will get your biggest problems and headaches out of the way, and save alot of money in the end imo...new rear ends, and constant tranny rebuilds and downtime will be nullified)

#8+ depends on what you wanna do, if your going to be on motor/juice, i say get a LM juggernaut cam, and maybe toss a little 50 shot on it. youd definately be in the 500 range and solid 10's, with just cam and regular boltons on stock heads. as for longtubes i like the dynamaxx(i think thats them)

I want to run a T88 turbo and some spray from 4k to 5500rpm to get my automatic with a 4k stall going out of the hole. I'd like to run 3.23 gears, with 28inch slicks on 15 inch wheels. I would like to do a similar suspension setup like HybridSS, but I want bogart wheels. I want to add bore and stroke 4.125 x 3.70(offset grind). I'm looking into getting a 396ci Darton Wet Sleeve hydraulic roller engine...

well, im not sure what sorta budget you are working with, but form the sounds of it, money isnt much of an object. and the fact you want a turbo, :)

anyways - my suggestion

i stand by all of my suspension suggestions unless you wanna go to a larger rim, say 15x12 since were talkin some serious power now. i would say definately tubular k-member and the rest of BMR's associated parts to lighten things up some.

C5R block (blast from the get go :D ) forged through and through
heavily ported heads of your choice (you can go for a little more volume and a little less velocity, as you'll be pressurizing the intake, and it should compensate)
contact alan futural for a cam (or anyone else with the software he uses)
as for turbo selection, T88 is weak sauce. Precision's PT96 Thumper with 1.00 A/R (should spool just nicely with the stall you are wanting to use, while being able to support 1500+rwhp) and of course, this means an air/water intercooler, most likely an in-dash one.

now, for the big question...do you want to run a wheelie bar? cause if not, i got a feeling this thing may be lifting the wheels quite high, and doubt skinnies and k-member will like a 5ft drop.
