ok well Jay is asking my questions and im getting him answers thru ya'll wiser than me TR members
ok he's gota 700R4 and he's wondering how he can cut down his ET's a little
i mean he's got plans to get the bitch rebuilt with a shift kit and possible stall
i told him get it rebuilt with a shift kit, corvette servo, and throw a nice stall.... maybe a 3200 :)
how much do you think he can lose with just that???

match the converter to the motors power band. what is the motor set up?
once you know the motor set up you can pick a converter, then from there decide if you need other upgrades other than jsut the bands and clutches. those arent eventhe weak parts. there is a TON of crap in that tranny.

That car needs NO MORE than 2500 on the stall, 3200 would be more than excessive. With the stall and a good 1.8 60ft compared to his regular 2.0s now, he could possibly turn a high 8 in the 1/8th.
Corey, it's a bolt on 305 that runs low 9s in the 1/8th.

I thought it was a R4-700. But Anyways, I would like to add +1 on matching to powerband, it helps power/torque transfer and to let engine build up. Id say between .500 and .580 lift get a 2500-3000 .590-.620 4400.

Yea, it runs damn good for a 305, he has suprised and beaten MANY cars that most just can't believe which I won't even get into. He could surely afford to drop a 350 in, which I'm sure he'll do if his engine gives out, but I think he loves telling people he just beat or suprised that it's just a 305. :D

well Vinny ya gotta remember back when i had mine i didnt have anything done with my tranny excpet a shift kit i mean i know absolutely nothing about stalls lol
**edit** not a bad price either Jay will be pleased to hear that
flipping now why do you say 2400 rather than 3200, you think his car cant handle it HP wise or is it liek one of those things were a 410 gear versus a 373 gear thing?
liek the 410 is just rediculous for street use

3200 would put it outside of its power band. but also depends on weight of the car, a lighter car will stall lower!

The car does have a fiberglass hood, bumper... a little lighter than stock, but I believe they are around 3100lbs. If I had to guess I'd say the car makes about 190-200rwhp @ about 4-4.5k rpms and 280rwtq between 2500-3000.

04-07-2005, 02:53 PM
well no for what its pushing, but to look at the size of its power band to pick the right verter.

His car's speed limiter makes a dyno run impossible... tops out at like 85 I think.
