If all goes well, tomarrow i will be picking up a brand new 305 crate engine from advance auto parts, my friend bought it a while ago to put in his 86 Z28, shiat hit the fan an now hes selling the 86 Z28 camaro motorless. and a brand new crate engine that has been at advacne, cause he tryed to return it but they couldnt do a refund, so he left it there. Anyway he said he payed 1300 + for the motor and its still in the crate and plastic. Ill be picking up Both the Camaro and the Long Block tomarrow for 1000 dollars.
100 a week
Financed
Question, what all is the engine good for? is it a POS? i know its 2 bolt main. Another friend of mine is biulding up a 305 for his S-10.
Im not farmilier with the 305 as much as i am 350s. What are there specs?
Ups and downs.
And do u think this is a good deal?

305s are decent for daily drivers and make even better paper weights!

they make great boat anchors too! A brand new 305 in that camaro will get you some solid 16sec 1/4mile times. If you are looking for performance you are seriously barking up the wrong tree on that deal. might as well get a galant :stickpke:

Good job! Didn't the 96+ 3.8L V6 put out more power than the 80's 305 Camaros? I hear they're using those same motors in the new Buicks. You're going to get your ass handed to you by a Regal, son!
*Edit for seriousness
305's are a 3.74" bore and 3.48" stroke. Same stroke as a 350, but shitty bore. I'm sure you could work one up if you wanted, but why bother? All of the other small blocks that are worth a shit use a 4" bore.
Also, the heads most likely BLOW and the valve train probably eats. More than likely has a mild cam in it too. It'll make a nice daily driver motor, but definitely not something you'd want to stick in a Camaro. You'd be lucky to see 250hp, I'd guess.
Go find a nice 4 bolt 4" bore block (or even a 2 bolt) to start with. I have a whole mess of 4" pistons, 5.7" rods, and even a stock, cast 350 crank if you want it. Give me like $100 for the whole lot and it's yours. At least with a 302, 327, 350, 383, you can generate some decent power.
