also the tranny quit going into fifth for the third time someone told me there is a teflon peice in the shifting area of the tranny that needs replaced. the first time they got my brother for a rebuild. if anyone knows what to do let me know
sure plenty of stuff, why not just go with some easy bolt ons? header, exhaust...
u could rebuild it. depends on what kinda money u r talking about. just like any motor really, club4ag has all the answeres to ur questions and any u could possibly think of.

mr2 aw11 ecu
mr2 aw11 distributor/or megasquirt distributorless ignition system
denso or bosch plugs
header
intake filter element (cone+adapter)
port/polish////3angle
unorothodox crank pulley
egr elimination (bullshit thing that goes from intake manifold to exhaust manifold)
charcoal can elimination
catalytic converter removal
20v itb's
hks/pdm cams
trd flywheel
illegal garage clutch
red top injectors
bore fuel rail
de-swingplate the maf
tap weld throttle butterfly/or/drill pin hole in throttle butterfly
carb it----like me
trd springs and valves
hks/wiseco pistons
and a couple other wastes of time cause the blue top will never hit more than 170 whp na
go high comp redtop or 20v or blue top bored turbo
i hope that helped

would it be easier to put a 50 shot on it ?

hahahaha
no
you will be swapping motors once again
just do the aw11 ecu and aw11 distributor with a nice set of spark plugs, msd igniton wires, msd blaster coil, egr elimination, charcoal canister elimination, throttle body drill, maf de-plate,header,and intake filter element
thats a nice setup
itll cost around 500 for everything
i hope that helped

how can I tell if the dist I have is aw11 the spare motor is from mr-2 will it have aw11 stamped on the distributor I cant find these numbers on it I also had the ecu but it was full of ants from sitting outside so I threw it in the dirt. and drilling A hole do you mean in the throttle blade ? thanks for the info this sounds more along the lines of what I may want to tackle also it needs a clutch any suggestions on that ?

denso or bosch plugs
um, don't use Bosch, use Denso or NGK, bosch suck in toyota's. my blue hat ran like crap on bosch platnium, but ran like a champ on regular ngk. leave the bosch for the Nazi mobiles(german cars)

how can I tell if the dist I have is aw11 the spare motor is from mr-2
any thing from a 4ag mr-2 is aw11 that is the chasis code for the mr2 of that style
and drilling A hole do you mean in the throttle blade ?
don't drill anything leave the butterflies where they are they give you low end torque which is much needed in these cars where there is almost none
go with a cai like a k&n or something comprable
headers are a nice touch but even better is a 2.25" inch cat-less exhaust
and get some 4agze injectors they are plug and PLAY :naughty:

aw11 distributor is direct line wires aimed at plugs with a heat shield
and drilling a pinsize hole in the butterfly allows more air blah blah higher idle
illegal garage clutches i have heard props from and will be ordering one myself shortly
and i have an adapter plate and cone filter for the intake setup for sale for $15 but your picking it up

OMG I LOVE the fx! I'm glad to see someone on here with one. Is it an fx16 gts?
Anyhow, aw11 cap points the wires upwards. the ones that point out are ae86, the ones that point away to the sides are fx/ae92.
You could get a stock tubular header from a 20v or even better yet slap a turbo on, run 6-7 psi and go go go! You can source 4age 235cc injectors from a 91-92 geo prizm gsi or a 90-91 corolla gts. They are high impedence so you'd have to bypass your injector resistors. It's all really easy. if you wanna stay the na route get some cheap cams from pdm, clean up all the castings on the head and run rally agressive timing. 4age are really easy to squeeze some extra power out of. It all depends on which way you'd wanna do it.
And btw 4age benefit greatly from a nice exhaust.
Good luck.

both motors have the aw11 distributors Ifound some regrind cams the guy says 255 duration and 7.67 lift the duration makes sense to me but 7.67 lift ? is this good. I am an experianced engine builder have built many small block ford motors and am very good at porting heads I have a couple cars that run but I have always wanted this car since it was new when my sister in law brought it home in 87 and smoked the rabbit gti that me and my brother had been working on and we thought it ran. how do i tell if it is gts it doesent say it anywhere and I even have the original window sticker . anyway I really dont want a race car I already have one of those just some bolt ons and be dependable all of the suggestions I have gotten from you guys soun great and dooable it also has real clean interior and some american racing rims that look like the 80s corvette rims with new tires so I am gonna spend most of my money on parts for swap and bolt ons I already bought a gasket kit and water pump I still need a clutch and timing belt and tensioner pulley 1 is rusted and the other is the original I dont want to do it twice so I must collect parts I would post pics but I dont know how.

Gts has 4 wheel disc. some had sideskirt, some didn't. Without 4 wheel disc its a regular fx.
I think I have an lsd tranny that will fit if you're interested.

it has 4 wheel disc. I have 2 trannys both wont go into 5th and I dont know if they limited slip probably not I might be intristed in trans. someone told me there is a peice in the shifting forks or mechanism that needs to be replaced in the side cover. what do you want for the trans ? oh I dont think it has skirts. thanks. also I have driven by your shop a few times and see some nice cars there.
